The story said a guard stopped him in driveway if I remember correctly. I'd definitely beef up those gates so they're not easily driven through.


some of these gates places are just for show! I was telling someone recently about a couple of neighborhoods near me - gorgeous $$$$ homes that have big gates but all you have to do is pull your car up close enough for the sensor to detect you and they open. you don't need a code to enter! and it's the same way to get out. anyone that wants to go in can.
 
We have a gate, our's definitely is not for show, doesn't open automatically either direction (coming/going)!
I don't think a car could even drive into ours to force it open... ours opens out, so maybe that's a good thing

I think so because like I said all you have to do is drive up close enough for the sensor and the gates open - and it is inward to enter and outward to exit.
