Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez

It seems there are plenty of delusional minds with big wallets in this world. Sánchez Bezos’s competition came from Japan.

"The bidding war was intense. For ten straight minutes, nine collectors went head-to-head for Birkin’s 'crown jewel.' Excitement filled the room as offers shot past €1 million, turning the auction into a high-stakes showdown. Sotheby’s didn’t name the winning bidder, as required by law, but a source told ARTnews that Sánchez was the anonymous runner-up. Even Vogue hinted that both Sánchez Bezos and Kris Jenner had joined the bidding by phone."

"The bag was sold to an unnamed private collector from Japan, according to The Wall Street Journal."

I think, I speculate Jeff learned about this and called the auction house not to sell it to Lauren. I would if I were him. Sotheby's will actually listen and sell it to someone else even at a lesser price as to not offend world power billionaire.

I also think Lauren is not "delusional" to want a $10 million dollar birkin. She probably wants a $10 million dollar mansion but cannot ask Jeff for the money. She's trying to take money from her husband just in case he wakes up one day and realizes he married the wrong woman.

LS came into the marriage with a “modest”personal net worth of $30M and, if they split, she will get something that is unimaginable to the average person.

I think she is ok. She doesn’t have to squirrel money into the cookie jar.

Oh, come on, Lauren's not that cheap! :P
Isn't his yacht like $500 million? She's not settling for a $10 million house!

I wonder how their finances are arranged now that they're married. I would assume they each have their own money and then a joint spending account (perhaps for certain items) which he would fund considering he's a billionaire. Do you think he sets limits on what she can spend? Mind you, their "limits" would be stratospheric figures to the rest of us!

She could have bought the Birkin, if she'd really wanted it and won it, from her own money if he's not willing to fund for unnecessary gew-gaws. And it is unnecessary; just a rich person's flex. I expect Kim K was one of the bidders.

There must be a prenup in place. She's already phenomenally wealthy so she won't be a poor church mouse, by any means, if they part.

There is reported to be an iron clad pre nuptial which is to be expected for any couple in this position.

However, assume that there is no way she would have consented to be married without a very advantageous post settlement in case of dissolution of marriage. Both also have children to think of and would have wanted plans in place.

Subsequent marriages have a way of working and it seems like they are well suited. Bezos could have fallen for a bimbo half his age, but he didn’t. Lauren is accomplished and smart. I think they will be happy together.

@MiniMabel , given just how much more bezos has, than just about anyone lol, i would think the pre nupt would include all expenses incurred during the marriage be on him, including hugely generous amounts for shopping, luxury, etc., but just guessing. . . :)

While I agree she is much more wealthy than I am with her net worth of $30 million he is on another scale altogether. If her wealth compared to mine is me standing on the street level compared to her at the top of the Empire State Building, his $236 billion is standing on the top of the Empire State Building compared to standing on the moon.

If you worked a 40 hour work week (2,080 hrs per year) and made $1m per hour it would take you over 113 years to get to what he has. Those are crazy numbers.

The Jane Birkin bag means nothing in her world. If Lauren had an interest in anything that sold for ten million it'd be hers. It wasn't worth it to her. I could see her preferring a brand new helicopter over a bag, even THE bag. Homes, art, jewels, real estate, endless plastic surgery, whatever assets, are in her reach. Bezos does have a foundation, or a few of them, I think she's on the board of one of them. For all their wealth, they're a little too thirsty for attention.

I doubt she is going to show more class now that she is married....this is the way she wants to look and apparently he likes it

This excerpt is interesting:

While Lauren's Vogue cover story may have not been hard-hitting journalism, it did offer some insight into the dynamic she has with her husband. "Jeff hasn't changed me. Jeff has revealed me," she told the outlet. "He lets me be me ... he lets me be unapologetically free," Lauren added.

Though they spend much of their working and leisure hours together, Sánchez told Forbes that Bezos supports her to take on her own projects.

"Jeff really puts me out there, and he goes, 'Go out there. Do your thing,'" she said. "He encourages me, and I'm lucky to have a partner like that."

And she said that support goes both ways.

"Jeff doesn't need all the support, and I encourage him just like he encourages me," she said. "A lot of people say this about Jeff, like, 'Oh, he's changed.' He hasn't changed. He's just being revealed more and more every day."

According to the insider, the former journalist “wants influence” and to play a key role in shaping the future of the popular fashion magazine, Vogue.
