Given that Sanchez was married to Hollywood power broker Patrick Whitesell of WME Endeavor for twelve years, I think these people actually are her friends.

Presenting a prenup close to the wedding increases the leverage of agreement of the party that holds fewer cards. Bezos has nothing to lose if Lauren refuses or delays to sign. Her lawyers could negotiate for more assets, or different timelines in the event of divorce, but why would Bezos' lawyers advise him to budge? So what if all the wedding arrangements are made and hotels are booked up? Bezos is in a position where he doesn't have to care. All the costs of the wedding are still pocket change to him.

It’s not great to have the idea of a prenup raised for the first time right before the wedding as between the couple. But to have the discussions about the prenup early and hammer out the details over time and then have it signed close to is ideal.

For self-respect, I'd have thought that Ms Sanchez won't need to negotiate too much as I'm sure she is wealthy herself. Anything she receives in the event of a divorce is likely enough to exceed the economies of many countries. Crazy amounts of money which far surpass the amount any one person requires.
I suppose they will let lawyers handle it but it still could get sticky if she doesn't accept what he wants to do
