I've Christened the Newest MJ Collection Store!

The decision on color was actually pretty easy - they had it in Black (which is more of a Gunmetal Grey) and the Taupe. They didn't have the red (altho they said I'd get one if I wanted -- I said no, why make the decision even harder!). They also haven't recd the Firebird Rio yet (which I considered instead of the stam), but I think the stam is the right bag.

The Black is gorgeous, but the studs and hardware just really stood out on the Taupe. I was wearing my black leather jacket at the time too (which didn't help the black's cause at all!), so the black bag just blended, whereas the Taupe just really stood out and made a statement. I knew almost immediately that I was going to to choose the Taupe but was absolutely certain once I had tried them on. But don't get me wrong - the Black is almost equally stunning, I just think the details blend more and stand out more on the Taupe)

The color is so unique - it actually reminds me of the Washed Rose from a few yrs back, altho it may not be as "Rosey" as that. There are definite rose undertones to it tho and the metallic finish is very moderate (it's not a really shiny bag like the quilted metallics from last year). But the leather - that's what sold me the most. I know I keep saying "Amazing" but I can't think of any other word to describe it! It is so soft, so smooshy, perfectly distressed and very lightweight. I don't know if it's lamb or calf tho (the care tag just says "tanned leather" - not specifically lamb, like some other bags have said (the Small Pouch I bought is lamb)). I think the leather really stood out on the Taupe, where it was hard to see all the details and the distressing on the black.

I am so happy that they had this bag - I've had my eye on it ever since I saw matchka's spy pics from NY in the fall. I'm also really happy with the changes they made to the bags - I was worried that the metallic finish would be too much for my taste, but it really is perfect. I can easily see this line being a top seller this season. IMO, none of the other bags in the store even came close to matching their beauty!!

:woohoo: You go girl! That stam buy is definitely worthy of a first boutique experience!! Your description and pics definitely makes me want one too. I absolutely love the tarnish effect on the hardware and I just love the look of the leather. You are right, I think this bag might just be a best-seller especially after your glowing report of it here! Yay!! I love, love it...now where are the modelling pics. BTW, the pouch is gorgeous too, a sure eye-catcher and very useful too. So a BIG CONGRATS to you, JJ!! Excellent purchase, am soo happy for you esp after your recent bag demise:winkiss:

Ooooh, I love it! I wanna hear more about the Thrasher later... it was on my list!

I know you've been re-evaluating your bags & collection and based on some of the bags you've recently acquired and the ones you've mentioned as "WANT" I think the Thrasher might be right up your alley!

For starters, the leather is very very soft. It's lamb and it's a lot like the leather used for the Memphis bags (may even be the same leather), The colors appear to have been actually painted onto the leather - where the colors are, the bag's really smooth and feels different than the black portion of the bag.

I wish I had taken a better pics of the Thrasher - maybe next time I'm there (if you haven't decided to get one by then!!;)). It was in one of the pics tho (I cropped here for you). When the bag appeared on the website, it looked more like a shoulder/hobo bag but it actually looks more like a tote. The strap is short, altho I imagine the bag will slouch somewhat so you should be able to get it on the shoulder. The top of the bag is almost as wide as the bottom, so it looks boxier than it's stock image (and not as tall).

It comes in either the purple or pink combo - I don't know about the designs on the bags, but the designs on the pouches were different (at least they were on the purple - he brought out two more from the back - one of each - and the patterns on the pink were the same, but the patterns on the purple were diff, I chose the one that had the more interesting pattern!). The lining is the same as the pouch - black satin.

It's also a very reasonably price bag, esp for the quality of the leather and the detailing (it's got small studs like the Paradise collection). I believe it was <$1000 (or maybe just over).

I really liked the Thrasher bag A LOT - it would definitely be one I'd consider if I could get it on sale or at a reduced price. (I'm not sure - are any dept stores carrying this line?). I do hope SOMEONE from tPF gets one - I think they're fantastic and very unique bags! I love the pouch and can't wait to start using it - it's actually fits inside the stam w/o taking up a lot of room (like the Palais Royal flat case did - it was too large for inside of a stam), so it's exactly what I've been looking for!

Thank you my dear! It sounds devine. I LOVE your pouch! I really want to see it in person - like you said, the pattern vary. I'm realizing that I like smaller bags too, so if it's a tote, it may not work. I wish they had the Marky! That would something I could use all the time!

You really do a phenomenal job describing everything! Thank you so much for all your time and effort to help us in the dark!

And yes, we DO need some modeling pics ASAP!

OMG that taupe leather is AMAZING!!!! Congrats!! I love the stud detailing.

thanks Lilah!:flowers:
it's the combination of the leather and the studs that makes me love this bag so much!

OMG, JJ! I am such a sucker for a gorgeous stam! That Firebird is truly unique!

Congrats, girl! That new store will become your new home!!!

Thanks M!:hugs:
I don't think I'll be there THAT much -- I don't want to wear out my welcome! :p But I do think I might be popping in from time to time just to check out what's new

oh wow, that's gorgeous!!! the firebird line has totally caught my eye this season.. love the graduating studded detailing and the smooshiness of the leather. the taupe color is lovely and the silk lining adds to the amazing fabulousness of this bag. congrats on your first boutique purchase, you made it memorable with this stunning masterpiece.

thank you thi!!:balloon:
I really think these are going to be Best Sellers - there's so much to love about them!

Oh that is absolutely exquisite! It looks like the super soft leather like the leather that lines some MJ bags.

The studs are amazing! Is the leather metallic? Is there a sheen to it? The pics don't look like it does.

Congrats JJ! That is an AWESOME christening bag!!
thanks for the encouragement H!:hugs:
there is a subtle sheen to the leather, but I don't think it's a true metallic.
I think the leather's a little diff from the leather lined MJs - it's so soft and smooshy and I don't think it's as thick as some of those leathers (def diff from the leather lined Hudsons) - I'm not even sure I can compare it to the leather of previous MJ bags -- it's pretty "different"

wow! i love it!

Wow! Congrats!

This stam is totally hot in the taupe color! Congrats!

thank you all very much!! :flowers::heart:

Thanks again Z!:tender:
Altho it was a little hard to say good-bye, but I'm certain that it will be in good hands and thrilled that it's going to such a loving new home!
I'll add some modeling pics either later tonight or tomorrow -- promise!

gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! :ps: congrats JJ!

thank you indi!
:hugs:
the pouch is such a good size - I've been looking for a new pouch to use inside my bags, but most are way too large (I ALMOST bought the Paradise Flat Case, but it's HUGE!) - this is the perfect size for the stam, cecelia, hudson, venetia -- nearly all my bags actually. And the leather is just fantastic (I couldn't stop "petting" it!!) I really hope that someone gets a bag from this line as I'd be curious to hear someone else's thoughts on it!

Interesting enough, when Gabby sent me pics of the pouches, the pattern of the purple was the same as the one I bought (they also match the ones shown on the MJ website). I think there may be variances, but I wonder how large they are??

And I'd say the Thrasher is roughly around the same size as the MacKenzie - maybe even a little bit SMALLER

I love, love, love this bag. One of my favorite aspects, (aside from the beautiful leather, color and studs) is the antique hardware. I really like that you do not have to be so careful with the metal. If you get a little scuff if just adds more character! COngrats, JJ. Exellent choice!
