Yes, caviar minis are discontinued. I haven't had the chance to use my lambskin one too much because of covid but the times I have used, I've loved how it looks - but definitely conscious of how delicate it is. That being said I prefer the mini vs. the small or medium classic flaps because the chain is long enough to wear it crossbody, and I don't carry much with me/don't need a larger bag.

I do think it's worth it to make the trip to the boutique to connect in person with a SA. You could also search the recommendations thread for a SA in SF and try texting them to get on the list, but they don't always respond. If you don't buy anything on the first trip, you might need to go back a second time to pick up the mini when you get in off the waitlist. If you get connected with a friendly SA via text and they are able to add you to the list, you would save yourself a trip. If you plan on buying more Chanel in the future I do think it's helpful to have that personal connection with a SA. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!! Please keep us posted on how it goes. New stock should be arriving to boutiques soon so hopefully it's not a long wait - I got mine around this time last year.

Hi ladies, I'm looking to purchase my first Chanel handbag. I've got a caviar wallet from about 10 years ago and finally ready to take the plunge on a bag. I'm in the Bay Area and looking to get a mini bag (rectangle mini flap or coco handle mini) in a neutral/classic color (gray, black, beige).

Can someone please point me in the direction of what to do? There's always a long line at my store and I've heard they have limited stock so I never waited in line... also it's about an hour away. From what I've read, there's a new collection that comes out every few months but it seems like everything sells out so fast. If anyone has any posts I can read or any SA recs, please let me know! Thank you

Hi! I recently was in the same situation. I am also in SF. I went to the boutique to meet an SA per Chanel online customer service representative’s suggestion. For the holidays (now through Christmas) you need to make an appointment to visit the Chanel store on Geary ST if you are going on a Thursday- Sunday. They allow walk in m, t and wed. I went right at 11 and I was #2 in line so I didn’t have to wait long. Unfortunately the boutiques aren’t allowing people to be put on a waiting list but the SA said I could text her closer to the next launch and she can reserve something for me if there is something I like. I also went to Neimans and checked the Chanel boutique out but same situation- they only had tweed minis. I want a neutral one for my first - I am going to try to get a black w lgh if that gets released this summer.

Looking for this brooch in the US! It's currently on the Chanel website. I called Chanel.com directly and they searched the database and said none could be found in boutiques or department stores. I am located in SF area as well, and have been wanting to get a mini bag. My SA from SF boutique store said there is a very long waitlist line for class flap mini bags, but put me on a waitlist regardless, and told me to expect to get it in 8-12 months. It's pretty hard to get good bags unless you are VIP in the bay area. I would recommend you to reach out to SA maybe in LA area, or out of state for a better chance.
