I don't care where it's made as long as it's the quality that I'm looking for. I have and have had a lot of LV handbags, both Monogram and Epi, and also have two Keepalls and two hardsided, Bisten suitcases.
I bought 95% of my Vuitton pieces in France and one of my suitcases in Copenhagen. The majority of the pieces that I own were bought in the 1980s and were made in France.
I have several more-recent pieces bought in France, Honolulu, and Costa Mesa,California at the Vuitton store at the South Coast Plaza mall. I don't know where they were made. I didn't look. I just know that they are made in the quality that I expect of Vuitton.
As for U.S. made, there has been discussion since either the late 80s or 90s about LV bags being made here in the U.S. I remember discussion, back in the 90s and also recently that LV is made right here in L.A. County. Now whether that is true or not, I don't know. But, about two summers ago, I was in the Beverly Center, here in L.A., and there was a display bag in the LV window with an obvious, "Made in USA" tag on it. Great. it's providing American workers with jobs!
As far as Vuitton quality, since I have bought it regularly since my first handbag in 1980, I have noticed that my monogram vinyl seems thicker than on some of the bags that I've seen that came out of the 90s and also now.
