Is this Patina or Dirt?

LV handles do get that dark from dirt and the patina, but this auction is just gross. I rather get a brand new speedy.

Patina is always pretty even. When you see big dark spots it's nothing but dirt. V

The darkest part is on the inner part of the handles where the hands come into contact with. I am wondering if it could be moisturizers being applied to the hands? I am constantly slathering moisturiser and I better be careful not to mess up the handles on my purse

I agree with Freetos, if you want the bag you could always replace the handles if the canvas is in good condition.

That is definitely dirt. Also, it is way overpriced for the condition it's in. I'd pass on this one and look for another.

It really depends on what you're looking for. It seems as though this seller is looking for someone to "buy it now" for roughly $400. It probably won't be bought for that price but once you're in that price range you might as well get a new one and grow old with it. I saw a woman at a store today whose handles were that dark and the bag just looked awful...like it needed a good cleaning! Maybe that's all this bag needs. I'm by no means an expert though.

Mr. Clean Magic erasers will remove the dirt and some of the patina. You wet the eraser, wring out some of the excess water, and then clean the leather, saturating it. A TON of dirt will come off. Let it dry over night and it will be much lighter. Then finish by conditioning it with appleguard leather conditioner.

This process WILL make the leather a bit dry, but it is a marked improvement over dirty vachetta.

The handles look really nasty, and the bag looks tired and ragged. You can get a new speedy for about $585. You may as well save up for new one.

The dark spot on the handles are a combination of dirt and patina. This speedy is very old.
