Exchange was never an option, I bought it in Paris - I was thinking of selling but something is stopping me - It's an original made in Paris, bought in Paris speedy!!! I can't part with it and I don't use it. I'm a total geek. Maybe I'm finally realizing my taste leans more in an anonymous direction.

Don't sell it, you will regret someday.
I personally think this bag is very special because you purchased it in Paris. Keep it....keep it...keep it....

I can understand how some people would think that the monogram canvas is "show offy"..well because LV isn't exactly cheap, and it's right there in your face..

HOWEVER...

I wouldn't not carry a bag because of that! - If you enjoy the bag, USE IT WITH PRIDE!!!!! Who cares what others think..if others think you're showing off, they obviously don't know you!..

I get you 100%! Before my LV craze days, I used to think the monogram canvas was just another "I'm better than you" line carried by snobs and spoiled rich women, BUT I am happy to say that I'm able to see it in another light now.
1. Monogram Canvas is THE classic line from LV (as already mentioned)
2. When you carry a mono bag, you're carrying about 150yrs HISTORY with ya
3. It is one of the relatively more affordable lines (antigua being #1)
4. Its canvas is super durable and lasts and lasts through years of loving care

I was in your shoes about 2 years ago. I stopped using my mono papillon because I was really young when I bought it, and everyone thought I was wearing a fake and I was so fed up with it. I started wearing Epi Jasmin for a long while. But I just brought my mono back out this summer because I realized I can never part with it and it is the reason I fell in love with LV to begin with.

You make some very good points - the remark about the history of the line really got to me. Thx.

It is kind of show offy, but so anything with a logo on it, to some degree or another.
If it's something that you're not comfortable with, then pack it away for a bit.
I know EXACTLY what you're saying about the whole "made in Paris, bought in Paris" because it's the same reason that I won't sell my Keepall that's been used ONCE in 3 years (coming home FROM Paris! LOL)
Keep it. You'll regret letting it go.

Take it out again when you're ready to carry it with pride.
Not because you're trying to show off, but for the other reasons that have been mentioned.

I for one, love that mono canvas seems to be the one fabric that can REALLY endure a beating. My tote is used as a diaper bag and I can't tell you how easily it cleans up after being flung about, overstuffed, spilled on...

I know exactly what you mean that was the reason I sold all my mono stuff (speedy, alma, wallet, pochette, pochette cerise) and went back to leather bags of different designers (Balenciaga, Chloe). I haven't regret it a minute that I sold them because they were great as "starter" pieces but my other bags are more me as I'm not a logo person. I do like the other LV lines like Epi, Souhali etc.

I know how you feel, I've carried my Batignolles Horizontal only twice to work because I feel self conscious. I read someone did not get a good raise because of her LV bag (my boss carries a beat up Coach) I hope if I get a Damier piece, it will attract less attention.

I think mono is a bit too flashy at times and that's why I tend to gear towards damier and epi, but I think everyone should have at least one mono piece in their collection. Mono is still a LV classic!

Since you got your speedy at Paris, keep it and give it to you daughter or something. It has sentimental value right?

Since your not selling it, just give it a break, use it in the winter. I get over my white MC every so often, cause it's everywhere and so copied. But then I will come back to it, cause it's fun and durable. Don't stress, just put it up for now, it's such a good bag, you'll come back to it.
