Is the roxanne too casual?

Yes I have a very old black Roxy and it still has enough shape to look like a structured bag. Just make sure you get an old Darwin - the more recent NVTs don't hold their shape and are almost as floppy as the glove leather Roxies. Bon chance!

Personally, the Roxanne is one of my least favourite Mulberry's - and the reason why is because I think she's too casual. That's just my two cents though... really, the only important thing is how you feel when carrying your bag.

A Bays sounds like your ideal bag, and while I realise price is an issue I think if you are able to save up/wait for a cheaper one to pop up from a reseller (even from an outlet maybe?) you will definitely not be disappointed!

I think it depends on the colour tbh. Think oak is probably too casual with suits, but you could definitely get away with black, and perhaps choc too. I wear my choc Roxy to work regularly, but have only just realised I rarely have a suit on at the time - wore mine yesterday with a Boden knitted dress & boots (then again, didn't have any client visits).

Roxy isn't for me (not the formal/casual issue - but too many buckles and won't go on my shoulder!), but I wouldn't rule one out for work use. I'm not so sure with a suit, but I think one would look fab with your heels & skirt & perhaps a snazzy blouse/cardigan rather than a jacket?

Black Roxy would look excellent with sharp suits and smart dresses. For me the Oak is more casual and looks great at weekends with more dressed down clothes.
Roxy is an iconic Mulberry bag!

personally don't think roxanne looks as smart as a bays.....but having said that my choco darwin roxy is my workhorse its really durable and gets battered in rain amd crummy weather and still looks fab..the only downfall is that roxy is so heavy when empty and wen u actually put your work essentials in she will weigh a ton....special darwin muscles are needed to carry darwin roxys...xx

Whilst roxy in a dark leather can look lovely with a suit, from what you have said about your look (which sounds very glamourous and '50's screen siren by the way), I would say a bays or east west bays would suit you more IMHO.
I have a choc roxy and for me, it is my sturdy, carry all weekend bag - I am a very casual dresser.
Are you in the UK? - the outlets have bays specials

My black Roxanne is my default work hand bag. I wear smart suits and high heels to work and it looks fine. It is also big enough to carry pretty much everything I need and I rarely need to use my briefcase.

Those nice handy pockets on the front also mean I don't have to go hunting for my business cards!

My two pennorth - I had an oak roxy + she was strictly for weekends. But I work with a woman who has a black roxy and she looks fab for work, suit and all. If you wear browns and creams and warm colours the choc would work; if you are more blacks and greys then the black would be perfect. Altho I love Darwin leather, I use my NVT bays more than my darwin one and would prob prefer an NVT roxanne too - slightly lighter and squishier. Good luck with your decision.

For my job I'm always wearing suits, formal skirts etc. But I use shoes and bags to make it more 'me' (me being 51).
That said I think it is very much possible to match your formal dressing with the Roxanne Yes, the Roxy is a bit rock-and-roll, but it is the combination that does it.
Personally I find the Bayswater (though beautiful) more of a bag for elderly ladies, but lately I saw someone in her twenties (very casually clothed) with the bag and that was OK too.
Have you considered the Mabel? I love them. They are very roomy too, and combine good with all kind of dressing.
