Is the older black bals more black?

I have seen the newer years black cities and they look so awesomely black! ^^

I have 02 and 03 and IMO, my 03 is much darker than 02 (attached pic for your reference)

As again, older bbags seems to have better leathers in comparison the newer one (eg 04 or 05)

So if you have a choice of the old bags in a good condition, I think it will be better

I've seen 09 blacks with hints of greenish hues on them.... I don't think any seasons of blacks post 07 are completely risk free. With each season, it is a risk, though I haven't heard of 05's and earlier blacks turning green.

Can someone post a photo of the bag where its turning green? I am looking to buy a black first or city GGH and am new to Bal.... the green tinge bit has got me worried. If this has been asked before please point me to the right link, thanks!

eta: but essentially the bag has tinged green on the shoulder strap, tassels, piping, all four outer/corners "patches" of leather, the leather surrounding the center zipper... etc. honestly, it's just everywhere...hah

Here is my 09 Black. She has been w/me two weeks and has not seen a long period of sun. Honestly, she is the best of my 4 09 bags. THiCK Hope she keeps her color

I have four 2006 Blacks and they are all very dark and saturated with no fading or turning green. I have two 2007 bags that are also very black with no fading or turning. My 2008 black bag was never really intense black and it has faded quite a bit. My 2010 black bags are very black, but it is too soon to know if they will fade or turn.

I sold a black 2007 that was turning green but I have another 07 that is very black still.

I had an 08 that was very blk....no green at all.

I now have a '10 black that is dark and HOPE it says that way.

i recently purchased an 09 Black work. previous owner (a lovely tpf'r) used it for 5 months straight. i can see no hints of green out in the natural light nor under several bright lights. the undertones actually look blue/grey.

i have seen a faded black city that was greenish grey. i had no ideal it wasn't a regular Bal color until i asked the owner what color her bag was. she said "it used to be black".. yikkies., she said she purchased the bag in 08

I have an '09 First that is really light!! Really just a darker Anthracite rather than jet black. It doesn't have green tones, however.

Thanks for posing this question, bellabags! I've often wondered the same! But from what it looks, seems the older leathers are keeping their colour better. I'd love to get a '05 or '06 Black City too. Scary how the '07 leathers are turning green... maybe I shld change my mind about my '07 GGH PT! Good luck finding your beauty!

mmmoon, don't give up on your 07 GGH PT I just bought a beautiful Jet black with no hint of green. They are out there, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. And thank you... I hope I find her too

The only true black black I have is from 05. But that is just me. I have heard some of the newer ones don'r fade to greensish/grayish, but that is not my experience (esp. 07 as noted above). When compared to my 05, they all look not black black. In fact I did have a 2010 Black Velo which I sent back to Barney's (wrong shape for me) and that was pretty black.
