Is SI1 Clarity for an E-Ring Okay?

Which would you prefer - sight unseen - Tiffany soleste:

a) .39, "I" color, VVS1 - $4,900
b) .40, "F" color, SI1 - $5,050

I'm leary about SI1 in this case! The center stone is so small with double halo around so is SI1 ok?

Honestly, I would wait for a .39/.40 G/H VS. It should be around the same price point and they should have loads of stock choices in this size category. Sometimes the SAs are just lazy and don't give you all of the options. Be very clear with your SA " I want a Soleste at .4cts G or H color and VS1 or VS2 clarity. I would imagine that this would also run right around the $5,000 mark." and I'm sure something will turn up quickly.

Thanks for the info! That's interesting because everyone says that eglusa is very "loose" with their standards so I assumed that was the case for clarity as well. This is all very informative yet still confusing (for me at least) when I read all these conflicting reports!
EGLUSA is not, in my experience, loose at all. EGL itself (international, israel, india) is horrifically loose though and frankly it gives EGLUSA a bad name that is unwarranted. I actually wish they'd change their friggin' name to counteract that!

This is interesting. I've always understood that clarity is based on the amount of inclusions and where they are located. BUt is there even a possibility of having a VVS diamond that has very minimal inclusions but they are black carbon?
There IS a possibility, though it would have to be a TINY one only viewed under magnification because by definition a VVS is definitely "hard to find under 10x magnification" and that's hard to find by a grader's opinion. It would almost definitely not be IN the table. Clarity is graded based on the type, the location and the amount of inclusions.

I agree completely. Midrange for me.
