I will get my Sak's egc in a few weeks and am deciding whether or not to buy LV luggage. I love the graphite damier print, but didn't realize that the luggage has gone form $1500 to $2400 over the years. My gift cards are approx $1700 so I will have about $700 out of pocket.

However...I am torn, is it a good investment and worth $2500 for canvas luggage? i Know I am paying for the brand, as I love LV and Chanel, but would the money be better invested in a leather bag I'll use more often than carry on luggage?

How has your luggage held up? I know i'd probably burst into tears watching someone cram some awful thing next to my luggage in the overhead compartments.

I would never purchase it even though as much as I really do want it. The luggage people just throw your stuff around and if anything breaks that's the chance you take!! I can't imagine spending that kind of money for someone to treat my luggage as it if were some cheap throw around piece.

I only have one Keepall that I bought several years ago. But I only used it as a carry-on and I never check my bag. Were you thinking about the Pegase 55?

I think there is only one size for the graphite the Pegase 60? So its the largest carry on size, which also worries me. I take a lot of quick southwest flights....and the chances of it getting checked on the tarmack are greater on those short crowded flights.

I want a keepall 45 as a carry on :) I don't think I can buy luggage, but I love the luggage. But personally, I don't think I would ever buy luggage, if its just going to sit there and not be used as much as a purse I would love to buy.

I've had a keepall, but ended up selling it because it'd get to heavy to carry, and as a carry on I wanted something with more room and pockets.

Just checked I'd be looking at the pegase 55 for 2490....yikes...the more i look at the price tag....the more it seems too pricey. :shucks:

i don't mean to be a debbie downer but here are my two cents. while LV luggage is attractive, it's a bit too attractive. the LV canvas is pretty flashy and can attract a lot of thieves. the more expensive it is, the more you are at risk of loosing it or having it stolen. plus i dont think any piece of luggage is worth that much. luggage is meant to be used and abused without having to worry about damaging it. as long as a piece of luggage is durable and made of good quality, it's good enough.

I really want a pegase as well, I really like the way the luggage looks, but worry about taking it on a plane. When our family travels we do a lot of road trips, so I wouldn't have to worry about it, but then I'm not sure I want to fork over $2500 for car luggage! It sounds like you like it, but probably know it's not the wises investment right now......because you would be too worried about it getting ruined and it's so much money. On the other hand, most of it is getting paid for with your egc, so now might be the perfect time to get it....

Not much help, sorry.....I think if I was getting part of it paid for I'd probably get it, and do my best to baby it on flights.

Good luck with your decision!
