is it weird to carry two bags?

I carry 2 bags every day.....one tote bag, one handbag.

The tote bag has my files, lunch, financial stuff, pills etc. Stuff I need everyday really. The totebag is a no-name from TJMaxx that people love......it's brown sueded leather with cream quilting stitching, trimmed in black patent. People stop me over this bag, and I like that it has brown, black and cream so it goes with whatever handbag I carry that day.

Carrying a tote is absolutely necessary for me, and it what enables me to switch handbags daily and carry such a variety. If I actually had to move all of that crap between handbags, I'd never change them out!!!

I actually was thinking about this today as I was walking into work this morning carrying my handbag and a laptop bag and caught a glimpse of myself in the hallway window. I decided: (1) that my handbag was so big that I easily could've consolidated and put my laptop into my handbag; and (2) my huge handbag looks funny with my laptop bag so I should've carried a smaller handbag. So, I guess I think that 2 handbags is fine as long as they aren't both huge (as I unfortunately learned today)!!!!

No when I was in college I carried two and sometimes even three!! I carried my backpack and sometimes carried a cotton tote for my belongings and lunch and/or sometimes my purse. I seriously lived at school so after school I would sometimes go out and thats why I would carry my purse separately. You know whats strange sometimes I would see girls carrying just a little tiny purse to class and I was like what??!! So thats weird its normal to carry a backpack and a purse I used to see it all the time and all my sisters who are in college right now do it too. I see it as the norm for me.

In San Francisco people do this all the time - tote + handbag, messenger + handbag, big handbag + small handbag, pretty much any combination you can think of. I even saw a lady with FOUR (messenger + messenger + tote + handbag) bags the other day. That might be a weeeee bit much though!

I'm up in the air on this one. I carry a large handbag with most of my personal essentials and a "computer bag" with my laptop and accessories in it. However just last week I saw a a woman with 2 smallish handbags while out shopping. It was like the first was too small so she added the leavings in the second bag. I say in this case just carry a bigger bag!!

How would it look carrying MK jet set large tote with zipper and side pockets for my lunch, business files etc. and an LV EPI Speedy 25 as my purse? I'm asking because if I combine everything in MK Black leather tote it is over 6 lbs and is heavy for my shoulder.

Black and MC aren't the two things I'd combine, but then again I rock a black&green-white-black plaid backpack to work every day and combine it with whatever handbag I feel like carrying. Most of the time, a Chocolate Longchamp Le Pliage, a black croc print bag or a dark blue Okay's tote.

Your bags, your shoulders, your decision! :smile1:

I carry three bags to work everyday. Today, I carried the following:

1) Longchamp Le Pliage large tote for books, folders, papers. This is the bag I carry with me all day while AT work.

2) street level reversible tote for my lunch, change of shoes, water bottle, coffee thermos. I leave this bag under my desk during the day and use items as needed.

3) Chanel classic medium flap for my essentials: keys, wallet, lipstick, sunglasses. This bag has its own special drawer in my desk :).

I go back & forth on this depending on what the day looks like/ what i need to carry. Just now, i am on a small-handbag-plus-tote kick, but this really does change almost daily. More of an also/ and than either/ or for me.

I carry two bags-my regular handbag and a work bag. When my kids were babies, I tried the whole handbag/diaper bag combo, and it just didn't work for me. With that being said, I am big on compartmentalizing. I don't want my work stuff to mix with my personal things.
