Is it redundant to have 3 black classic flaps ? Am I the only crazy one out there

I have all in 12 Chanels. Out of those 4 black bags
- medium CF in black caviar with ghw
- medium CF in black caviar with shw
- small CF in black lambskin ghw
- classic woc in caviar with ghw

I accumulated them over the years , one was a gift (medium Cf with ghw) and the gold lambskin is my ultimate dream bag. I feel bad thinking of letting either go but I feel like it’s bit redundant having all these black bags . I was considering letting 1-2 go if so which one would you let go? Which one looks better between the shw and ghw mediums. The ghw for m/l is starting to rub off bit as well as it’s not 24k plated.


Am I the only one who has same bags in different hardware or are there more crazies like us

Some people really love their black bags. I would let go of one of the medium CFs in black caviar if I had to choose, and honestly probably the GHW both because of the rubbing off but also so you have more options in hardware color as your small CF and classic WOC are already GHW. You may have to factor in the person who gifted it to you though (hurt feelings, etc. - in practice gifts should not have strings attached but in reality that isn't always the case).

I have many black bags too, never enough and I have to stop myself from wanting more. The lambskin is so gorgeous! I recommend you keep the shw caviar and ghw lambskin. I would suggest letting go of the ghw caviar. Since you have a caviar with shw, I think that would be perfect for daily use/casual use and the ghw lambskin for the special occasions. WOC is a must have, keep :).

I once had 11 classic flaps in different colors (mostly medium and a couple small) i sold 10 and kept only 1 Black caviar with silver hardware as i found the bag to be not practical.

But since i owned 11 before i understand why you would have 3. Totally fine as long as you are happy ..

Honestly? I had a small black classic lambskin silver hardware that I let go shortly before covid shutdown and I deeply regret it. Although yours are all black, they are still different. The prices have skyrocketed and they will be so expensive to replace if you regret it like I do. I do have a black mini champagne hw that I love, but it’s just not the same. I would keep them all. You have a very beautiful collection. 🖤

I also have a lot of black bags in my overall collection and 4 black Chanel’s…jumbo CF, medium CF, rectangular mini, and WOC, all in caviar with SHW. I’m able to justify (at least to myself 🤣) different uses for all of them. The only one I’ve debated selling is the rectangular mini but I’ve held off since replacing it won’t really be an option if I have regrets. All this to say, you’re definitely not alone! If you’re set on letting one go, I’d choose the medium CF with GHW since it sounds like the small in this hardware is your dream bag and the GHW is starting to rub off on your medium. Good luck deciding!

Black is my default color for bags! I just love the elegance of black. I have a classic caviar WOC with SHW, a 227 Reissue with RHW, a small classic lamb with GHW, and a 19 in goatskin with mixed HW. ALL black! These constitute 4 out of my 6 Chanel bags. So yes, if you use and love them, keep them! :smile:

I don’t think it is redundant for you because it is clearly a style and color that you like and use. The different in leather and hardware combinations is enough of a justification to keep them all especially given the recent price increases.

Personally, I love black bags and don't find them redundant if there is enough variety or if you just like them all!

Here is my black collection (all different sizes or shapes):
Black caviar jumbo with silver HW
Black caviar WOC with gold HW
Black soft tote with gunmetal/aged silver HW
Black structured Business Affinity tote with gold HW
Black and white tweed with sequins top handle rectangular mini with champagne gold HW

I have a lot of black flaps (maxi, jumbo, medium, mini rectangle, mini square, xxl) and I wear none of them but they are classics. If I sold them and then regretted and wanted to re purchase they would be significantly more than what I purchased them for so I keep them in case I might want them in the future. My personal style has changed and will probably continue to change, I constantly go back to older bags in my collection after not wearing them for several years. Unless you really need to sell them I would keep them. Chanel black flap bags are the ultimate timeless classic.

Even the fact you have medium in silver and gold hardware - IMO the look is completely different for each of these and they suit different outfits and occasions. It’s the dream classic combination to have one of each hardware hahaha
