Is it just me or does the "shrinkage" factor set quickly??

I think most of us are on this forum because we like to discuss things with like-minded people. In truth, I would never tell 90percent of my friends that my (slightly over 2 carat) diamond now feels small. I wear my prior (slightly over 1 carat) original stone as a beautiful bezel set necklace and love it everyday.

Was my post bordering on the superficial--yes. But, not too terribly out of context for a fashion and jewelry message board, no? This may be the only place I can say "out loud" I really think I really need a 3.5 carat F color nearly flawless round bezel set diamond and not feel like a jackass : )

By the way, I have little sausage fingers, too. I think that makes a big difference!

Oh good lord, I had assumed that as a given. My assumption is that no one talks about this stuff off here. I know in my actual life, only heinously bad-mannered strangers would stomp up to me and demand the stats on my ring. Nobody in my real life discusses rings or diamonds at all. Never comes up. I wouldn't want to discuss this stuff with anyone who could put a face to a name.

And your post just gave me a really good giggle, leem! Thank you!

Leem I totally get your posts, I'm all for upgrades! This is not a place to judge superficiality, but a place of comfort for ppl who love the finer things in life. I'm not a crazed materialistic person at all but I do enjoy luxuries and I understand those who are like minded.
For some ppl the shrinkage factor comes quickly, for others (very few) their bauble grows magically in the night. I fall in the second category. When I set my diamond I felt it was perfect and now it feels heavy and big. I'm sure it is a mind frame thing and I will conquer it sooner or later.

Don't feel bad for sharing your thoughts.

I believe that beauty in diamonds does not depend on size. I'd rather look at and wear an exquisite small stone beautifully set than a mediocre larger stone in a so-so setting. My collection of Old European cut diamond rings has stones roughly 1-2.something carats each, and that's just right for what they are.

Developing a sense of beauty and proportion--priceless. :p
