IS it just me or do snake bags creep you out?

Creeped out? No question. All the "exotics" give me the willies. I want handbags I can enjoy touching both for their materials and their workmanship each time I open them or toss them over my shoulder. Snake, alligator and ostrich skins need not apply.

I love python and anaconda bags with the tiny scales (Devi Kroell, Gucci Indy, Lambertson, Jimmy Choo gold rio) but I tried on a Gucci Britt tote that had some larger rubbery scales and I didn't like it.

I like snakeskin bags though I don't particularly care for snakes. The natural patterns and colors of snakes are gorgeous. I try not to dwell on the fact that it came from a snake and enjoy it for it's own beauty.

Snakes are ok as long as they keep their fangs to them selves...you know? Definately, poor old no shoulders gets treated badly in processing for their hides...probably because we are afraid of them? In anycase, no snakeskin bags for me...or lizard either.
As for Ostritch, I don't think it wears like iron at all and the tanning process of the greys leaves much to be desired often becoming more green over time..yuck!

I don't like exotics. Also, some bags (mostly goat) that have the visible part where the SPINE of the animal was...ew.

I agree with rosie I also do not approve of exotic skins being used for bags or of furs for that matter; I wish designers and buyers would switch to faux items. orinoco snakes are not slimey.

Some of the snakeskin bags are beautiful, however, just can't do it, love the Chloe Betty in snakeskin, but don't think I could carry it. I once was looking at a bag, didn't realize it was snakeskin, when the SA told me what it was, I threw it down, it was just a reflex, I apologized and felt really bad, but think they are not for me.

I've seen some cute snakeskin bags, but I don't own any. And I doubt I will get one either. I wouldn't say they creep me out, but I just don't like the look somehow. Like many of the others, I'm really afraid of snakes, so I think that might be why.

So in short: they're not for me, but they don't exactly creep me out either.

Actually, I really like snake skin! I LOVE Devi Kroell- She is a staple on my long term wish list! I guess if the scales were really big, then I wouldnt care at all for it.

I love the snakeskin bags out now and have a couple. But I only like the dyed ones that are mostly one color. The ones that look like hides just don't appeal to me.
