I feel like I keep purchasing luxury items because I am so worried about the price increases that are to come.
I convince myself I have to make purchases before all these price increases take place and I have regrets later.
I know some have already taken place and it's causing me anxiety. I keep thinking to myself why did I wait....
Is anyone else making purchases because of this? Or am I the only one :panic: Please tell me I am not the only one!
Covid is making my shopping habit far worse.

as @Swanky said, Price increases are nothing new in the world of Luxury goods, they tend to be seasonal.
In the Uk with Brexit I'm sure we shall see import tax affecting the price of imported goods (which lets face it most Luxury brands hail from Mainland Europe).
I suspect that you are really making more purchases as a form of escapism and looking to the price increases as justification.
The reality is that we are all feeling pretty anxious and stressed by Covid, some may be feeling lonely and almost certainly bored.
As long as you are not getting in over your head in debt and are buying items you would have wanted anyway dont overthink it.
Just enjoy the thrill and whatever escape it brings you from the harshness of the day to day grind

I was just going to say..aren't there price increases twice a year? If it's something you really want, I say get it..but not just because you feel rushed to do so
Agreed. I feel like every time I turn around the prices keep going up. That's the hard part, I want to make sure I am buying it because I truly, truly want it. However,
I have bought many things so now I am not sure I am motivated by the desire to want as opposed to the desire of grabbing before the price goes up further and kicking myself.
Does that make sense? Or does it only make sense to me? I am trying to figure out how to calm down my thought process around this:biggrin:

On the contrary, the increases are culling my wants. Especially when the increase is upwards of 25%, i find myself saying, nope, guess I’m not buying from that company anymore.
Regular small increases are the norm, which I don’t mind. Luckily the items that I deep down truly want are still only increased by tiny amounts so the companies doing steep increases are greed pricing themselves out of my attention zone.
Maybe it’s age, but I refuse to be bullied into buying something at a certain time.

Yes, yes and yes! Complete justification and escapism. Feels like you know me IRL LOL!

Well if something goes up by 25%, then I am not buying it either. I agree with you there for sure. In that case, "that ship has sailed" on my shopping list.

It does feel like a lot! I buy mostly Chanel and Goyard. When I started buying Chanel around 2005 they hadn't had an increase in like 10 years. . . they sure made up for it. The Classic kiss lock clutch was $850 back then. I'm guessing it's at least $2k now.

Totally agree. Back in 2012, I had gone to our Neiman's and they actually had some Chanel's on sale. Can you believe that? I liked the bag and it was only $2,200. For some reason, I wanted to sleep on it. I called back the next day and of course it was gone. After that, I finally purchased my first Chanel bag in 2017 for over $5k. I feel like I never got over that. My sister and I still talk about the timing of that whole situation. Like why did I not just grab it while I could!

Not "that ship has sailed" but in my case I'm to afraid to tote that ship around and still feel save. This has a lot to do with where I live, but I don't want to buy something so expensive to just be pretty on a shelf.

Chanel still puts some unsold seasonal items on sale twice yearly!
I wish had an SA who would let me know when this would happen. The SA I purchased my bag from in SF went on maternity leave and did not return. The second SA I purchased from was in SoCal.
I should find his number and see if he is still around to give me the heads up!
