Aww that is such a sweet story. DS sounds too cute! You’re such a good mom!
Well, IDK about being a good mom but I figured he deserved to discover it after all my shenanigans of trying to get him to remember. I still feel guilty for putting him in 20 sec timeout the first day for touching mommy's bag without permission. He really couldn't remember.

Well it was nice while it lasted...New Zealand now has confirmed community transfer and we are back in semi lockdown. Auckland goes to Level 3 and the rest of the country to Level 2.
Not that I stopped washing hands or sanitizing the eftpos machines.
Sigh....at least we have an effective government thats kicked in now instead of later.

Good luck! I don't think the decisions on this virus situation are easy for any country or area. In the US, there are a lot of issues right now, but I am glad that it is up to the individual states to determine what needs to be done. For example, I wouldn't want to be in complete lockdown if my particular area does not require that. They look at the incidence / rate of positive tests, etc to determine if changes need to be made. But I think the real struggle is that they know they can't go in complete lockdown throughout the country here again. It just isn't possible economically or for people's lives in general--there is work that needs to be done, people need jobs, and the education aspect as well. It really is difficult until a vaccine comes out.

And to be fair we were in a pretty big lockdown for a few months almost everywhere and yet here we are with a second wave anyway. I think it doesn't give people much faith in a lockdown situation--thus the many that don't want to comply with the rules. I would say despite that, there are many that are following the rules and it isn't complete chaos everywhere.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. Are you still going to be able to go to work?

You are right — it is very complicated in a country as big as ours. Unfortunately we are still in the first wave, not the second wave . And we were never in a true lockdown (many Americans won’t stand for it and say their rights are being taken away) like other countries (such as parts of Australia where there are nightly curfews and only one person from each household can leave the house for essentials, etc). The states here were allowed (not required) to impose shelter in place restrictions and no true enforcement. Heck, some (many?) people all over still won’t wear a mask. It’s very disheartening.

Yes...Im in the Level 2 area of NZ...but it just means we will be doing appointments for the salon and social distancing as per usual. Cleaning down the eftpos machines which Ive beem doing and cleaning and sanitizing which I haven't stopped doing anyway.
Level 3 is Auckland so non essential places are closing, schools are closeing...lines at the supermarket again.
Until they know how this grouping came about..there has been no travel in this family. Could be contact with someone working in the managed isolation hotels..could be anything.
We have done well as a country...and as we have only about 800 or so ventilators for the whole of us we have to be good and keep it down.

I think it depends where you are. I think if you watch the news or are in an area where people are out of control it is very disheartening. But when you are in an area that most people follow the mask rules, etc, and just go about their business, it feels okay. When things first opened up where I live it was pretty quiet for a while, and now it is pretty much business as usual, but most people do wear masks or distance--so I feel pretty good about being able to live a "normal" life, so to speak. That said, if I saw people blatantly just breaking all of the rules I would feel different. But this is why I do feel like it is important that each area determine their action--because I would hate to be punished for an area that wasn't doing well if generally things are going okay here. At any rate, I am sure we will all be happy when life is reasonable normal again one day. It is wearing.

I am glad to hear you are in an area where things are under control. People in my local area are good about wearing masks etc but the cases/hospitalization/deaths are still going up here and our state is in the top 3 hot spots . It’s infuriating to hear about stuff like the motorcycle rally in SD where 250 k of mostly maskless folks are gathering (indoor concerts/bars too). Yes, definitely can’t wait for things to be more “normal” again.

:( It's not fun. I hope it gets better quickly.
