Why do kids destroy everything?! We bought a great custom made bonded leather couch for $700 from a consignment store. It was such a score! Idk how it started.. maybe a crack in the leather.. my autistic son found it and keeps peeling it off no matter how many times I tell him not to, nicely or not. Doesn't matter. He just peeled off another chunk. [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24] I seriously want to cry. inCollage_20170929_204644605.jpg

Aw, how sad! Don't blame him too much. My son bought a gorgeous leather couch when he first moved into his apartment. It peeled like this because the leather was really thin. Maybe you can patch it with leather cement and Leather Refinisher. I did that for holes in our car seats.

That makes me feel better. The leather really is very thin. I can't blame him too much anyway. He can't help it. We just can't afford to buy a new sectional right now. I wish I could repair it but I'm not sure how. I thought about patching but I can't take the cushions off to sew it.

Sorry to hear about your couch too! We did shop for a new couch before buying this and what we liked was $8000 in fabric. I can't imagine what it would have cost in leather. Didn't ask as I assumed it would be waaaayyy out of our budget.

Oh so sorry this happened to your couch. I am sure it is hard for any kid to resist peeling (it’s a little like a scab that begs peeling). Anyways, maybe get a sofa cover in the meantime?

Yeah, we’re trying to save up for a new couch for when the kids stop using it as a trampoline. Lol. And they also pick at the peels of the couch. I’m even tempted to sometimes. We put a throw over the back of it and it hides the fugly part.

That couch you were looking at in leather probably would have been the price of a car. [emoji23]

Yeah I see what you mean. DS1 can't stand any scabs either. He can't stand any imperfections. If he gets a nick/cut he will pick on it. He tells us to fix it which we obviously can't immediately. My husband super glued his cut, then has picks on the super glue too.

Is this girl serious? Ahem, BAN thread!!
