Ha!! I could see that! I’m new at this and really, I have 4 kids so for now I’m having a lot of fun learning about certain brands (at this point mainly Botkier and Rebecca Minkoff) and finding steals on Poshmark. One day maybe I’ll go buy myself a brand spanking new bag. But it’s also interesting that brands older stuff can actually be better quality. I’ve had a blast finding old MABs!
Also look at OS Kooba, Hayden Harnett, Treesje, Isabella Fiore. The quality WAS so much better!!

I love MABs! What did you find?

I haven’t even gotten them in the mail yet! I can’t wait. I guess with Poshmark sometimes sales don’t work out so it’s not 100% yet ha. I’m glad I waiting and researched on this forum first. I was intuitively checking out bags in good shape/price ratio, but after reading a bunch here I realized I could kind of tell the age by the lining.

I bought an old Evergreen glazed bag and an old mocha (I think those are the right colors). Neither have the strap and both have the paisley lining. These pics are from the site. If the descriptions and pics are accurate, I think they just need some TLC, some conditioner and they should be good for a long time! I’ll post back here when I actually have them for the truth lol. Cross your fingers they work out! I see really nice flawless ones for way more but I’ll “practice” with these lovely old ones first! I want to get ones from different years to compare eventually! I read that anything pre 2010 is good and 2010-2012 is kind of rolling dice. THANK you for the other brand names!! I’ll go down those rabbit holes now

Ooooh paisley lining nice! They look great! If any of the color needs any touch up try tarrago shoe cream-they come in tons of colors, I use them a lot. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Oh thanks! I’ll remember that. It looks like the brown one definitely is faded on the corners. I’m most excited about that one in the gambling kind of way. It could be really really great and look awesome all broken in or just look haggard with no chance of recovery! The evergreen seems like distressed works well and will look fine with some touch ups. I’ll definitely report back. Thanks, no one around me cares about my new hobby, it’s fun to have people to chat with about it! My husband thinks I’m crazy [emoji16]

Yup, old Botkier, old Minkoff, old Kooba and old HH were swell. I’ve no experience with the other two personally.
They’re not horrible nowadays, it’s not like they went Wally-World quality, it’s just not the same as before. They were gunning to be Balenciaga or Chanel and ended up landing in Michael Kors territory. Heck, even Michael Kors was gunning for LV and Gucci and ended up landing in Michael Kors territory. Damn shames.

(That’s not hate for MK, I have several I carry happily, but top-shelf luxury it ain’t.)

I’d love a super top shelf bag someday. I definitely love the thought of these old bags made when the designers were starry eyed.

Are there any other bags like the MAB (and lesser so the Trigger) that were super popular and are fun to find old versions of?

Errm...I don’t know how popular the Botkier Nomad was, but it’s a great piece.
RM’s quilted chevron pieces were nice, the ones that are clearly kind of Boy or YSL-inspired...
I had a soft spot for the Hayden Harnett ‘Tron’ collection even though theyre WAY not my style...I was a 70’s/80s baby and the original ‘Tron’ was one of my favorite movies. So it was the nostalgia :giggle:
But the Nomad is one I wish I hadn’t got rid of...it was the squishy satchel, not the boxy crossbody.

RM had the Nikki and Cupid, MAB, MAM, and Matinee. Hayden Harnett, NOT 'Hayden for Hayden Harnett' all of their bags were beautiful. Bulga had some nice bags as well like the Butterfly Bag. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot but that's what I remember off hand..

I like RM Cupid. I had several MABs and sold them. Decided they weren't that comfortable to carry. I still have two cupids. Pink (peach) one and black with rose gold HWcupid.jpg cupid.jpg

I've done some casual browsing for an old school Botkier Trigger. Most of them don't state old so I assume they are newer and not as nice leather. I found one that stated old and they wanted $189. Seems kinda high to me.
Anyone had one of these? Are they quite heavy?

You're on a similar journey to what I was doing when I first joined PF but I was buying in dept stores whereas you're getting yours for a steal :)
enjoy
