Could be but my comment was about influencers who flex a life of luxury on social media like they’re ultra wealthy but in reality they regularly resell their stuff and other items on ig stories or h fb groups (eg multiple pairs of orans and chypre) and spouse and influencer have ordinary jobs but yet seem to spend several hundred thousand a year shopping at luxury stores. (I wonder if the irs ever pays attention to any of these influencersI mean, is it actually that opposite? Say, if we accept the fact that luxury items used to be something that middle or upper middle class person can afford, probably with a certain stretch (not anymore though given the state of the economy), then why would we expect them to deliver some luxurious artifacts otherwise. Maybe this is what the things are - those people are doing somewhat beyond the average, having a bunch of luxury garments because that’s what they focus on for whatever reasons.

I saw one influencer who regularly flexes exotics post ig stories about her kid’s birthday but it was at a relative’s strip mall nail salon with a sad looking cake and a couple of balloons. Was that all she could afford? Maybe her kid isn’t a priority. Maybe that’s what her kid wanted. Like I said people can do what they want but I would prefer that they be real about it. I appreciate the influencers who are honest and say hey I overspent and I’m on ban island after buying all this stuff. That’s reality - not someone who regularly resells and gets a faubourg and gets bad prof pictures taken of them in cliche berets and short skirts at an outdoor Parisian cafe in dead winter.
There was someone I used to follow on sm and eventually unfollowed after noticing some of their items actually were not authentic. This person like others on sm buys a mix of authentic and fake goods. Why do people do this? For more followers likely. Apparently the desire to flex and have people fawn on them outweighs any sense of moral responsibility. Who wants to follow a fraud? Support someone who buys fakes and supports that dark and illegal industry of forced child labor and human trafficking?
Sm is a Barbie world fantasy land in a lot of cases.
