Influencers and Hermes

I always laugh when I hear H influencers start their posts/vids "I wasn't going to talk about 'X' but soooo many of you have asked for it or asked about it..."
Same as when they say ‘many of you have dm-ed to ask me about xxx’. l always suspect nobody asked but they just want to advertise without seeming like advertising

Aaand now influencers have started staging “spontaneous” paparazzi-style videos, where they’re asked what they’re wearing in the street (*outfits linked of course*)

This is nothing compared to some influencers who pay people to pretend to be buyers and have a "sold out" products 😂
‘This reminds me of street sellers in Oxford Street in London back in the day. They’d be peddling expensive branded perfumes and other products (but were in fact just perfume bottles filled with water or just faulty items). They’ d have a couple of girls pretending to be buyers to encourage people to buy (and usually another ´friend’ watching for the police to arrive.) This practice has died out in the street but it seems to have moved on line.

Well, in terms of Hermes influencers, they'll pull out their MK or B 25 and then do a comparison test with some brand only available through TikToxic for 1/10 of the price and conclude you're better off with 'Brand X' 'cos H is so overrated'.

Meanwhile every unpaid post on Insta features their newest Hermes bag bought from the proceeds of payment from 'Brand X'.

Have you heard of Katie Giorgadze? I've never seen her wearing anything Hermes, except for a pair of Chypre. She recently made a video saying that her husband was making "secret" visits to Hermes in Paris, declining offers to get craie B30 for Feb 14th. She also got another Birkin less than 6 months ago.

I am not speaking for this one particularly but please people be careful when you scroll Insta or TikTok with the tons of reveal. Most of those bags are fake.
You can find super fakes quite easily out there.

I would not trust those influencers, super young women that seems to have multiple bags or offers popping up with almost no other H items.

Saw this gorgeous birkin on IG earlier today, and was quite curious to see Vert Fonce with contrast stitching, at first I thought it was the light and reflection playing tricks on my eyes but then the repost on @clubhermesparis kinda confirmed it.

Even found an exact same one online to compare but it is still only tonal stitching:

Now I think I need to revise my wishlist.

It makes me a bit disappointed when I see people talking about bags they bought and how they didn’t 100% fall in love with it but still bought it. I guess we’re all human. I hope she ends loving it.

On a second note… part of the video made me laugh because I am a tactile person and will sometimes just mindlessly caress my bags when I’m out wearing it…and who am I kidding, also when I’m just at home…this post might be more of a “you know when you’re addicted to H when…” lol

She had the same reaction to her Noir Mini Lindy. I actually like Kat! She recently picked up a City Bag from balenciaga (not a brand I personally like) that seems to make her very happy!

So funny ! It’s worth remembering with influencers that is their job to make money and influence us or whoever is watching. It’s basically like watching an advertisement - except that now the boundaries are a little blurred. 10 years ago if you watched an advert you knew it was an advert (we still get influenced by adverts) while now sometimes there is pretence that what we see on Instagram or you tube is real life.

To be honest, I had my doubts when I first got my Constance Élan. Etoupe seemed like such a delicate color to me, I wasn’t used to contrast stitching, and on top of that, I was a Maria Callas fan—carrying a bag so deeply tied to Jackie felt almost disrespectful! I even seriously considered returning it (I actually asked in the thread if I should!). But over time, I completely fell in love with my bag, and I’m so glad I didn’t send it back.

I can understand people feeling disappointed when they expect a BKC but end up with a different model. However, sheer cluelessness is on another level.

A friend of mine was offered a Bolide in a highly valuable color, and her reaction was something like, “The reseller value isn’t that high... does that mean it’s not as valuable as a BK? Ugh, what should I do?” God. Sometimes, I just feel sorry for those who chase after H pieces just for the sake of owning them.

Yes it seems that people often fall in love on gut instinct and then have momentary doubts and then come back to loving it again. It seems like this is what happened for you and your beautiful etoupe Constance elan. You wear it so elegantly! and it seems to be such an easy to use bag.

Yes, it’s tiresome to see when people acquire bags because it’s “hard to get” or just get it and then sell it. I think it's because many of us try to be thoughtful about our collection. I see so many brand new bags on resale websites for such a premium that it’s disheartening for those of us who want these bags. Sigh* C’est la vie.

Regarding this influencer, Kat, at least she admits she’s used her mini Lindy quite a bit and seems to like the mini bolide. I hope she does come around to truly enjoying it!
