Influencers and Hermes

Hype might be gone for her but my local store is still jam packed to the gills.
She didn't hold my attention for more than a minute. Tossing of her hair & using the word "luck"
as we all know luck does come into the picture, right time right place but still no guarantee
so didn't need to hear that from her & her analogies were illogical & not relevant.
The hype for Hermes will never be gone , let me break it to you
And the voice, let's not even go there

I didn’t click on the video because I don’t want to give her a view. 😂

She’s not influencing me into giving her ad revenue. :giggle:

Im surprised many of you dislike of Jess/her tone. I find her to be very genuine although quirky. I don’t always agree with her but generally she is one of the few transparent, honest influencers. Another influencer said she doesn’t have one bad bone in her body and is one of the most genuine people they’ve ever met.

Anywho, I don’t get the sneaker comparison either but I’m very out of the loop with those sorts of things. IMO as long as the resale prices are still high it’s an indicator there’s demand. Maybe as the economy gets worse demand may drop? I have to look at the recent financial reports to see. I don't think we will ever get to a point where people can walk in and just be offered a bag like Jess alludes to, even if the demand is down. I imagine if demand is down, H would just produce less and continue expecting clients to pre-spend

It's not Jess, it's her way of narrating. Her voice tone is high and she speaks promptly. Her content , based on reviews, is called a digest. What is the sense to mention" blogger X said that and blogger Y said this"?
I would call her behaviour in buying and selling bags labile, I may be mistaken. But there are reasons why her channel has been growing very slowly.

IMO her comments about her channel not growing was odd. She's caught up in comparison with big youtubers. There is nothing small about close to 16k subscribers. Maybe in comparison with all of Youtube land but that is still a decent following. Most of the channels that grew significantly did so from massive unboxings or featuring content outside of luxury.

I'm not familiar with her bag selling other than one bag here and there, which I don't have an issue with. Many of the large influencers are practically running quiet businesses selling their pre-spend and bags though. Others publicly admit they broker sales via DMs!

She mentioned several times, she was a LV gal, then sold all her LV bags and entered a Chanel era, sold her Chanel bags and joined the H train.
All of them? That is so weird. See things like this is why I think there was validity to some of the claims a few pages back that influencers have some type of shopping addiction because I do not think it is normal to constantly be selling entire collections and buying new stuff. Yes we change our minds here and there, but entire collections or boxes and boxes on prespend is just bizarre to me.

Well, the criticism was specifically directed at Mel, who rarely sold anything and accumulated 45 bags, which, according to some, showed hoarder tendencies. But this influencer does sell stuff and that means she has a shopping addiction? So which is it, should they sell their bags or should they not?

I myself enjoy poking fun at the nail-tapping and blatantly sponsored videos, but I don't think there's a need to be armchair psychologists and comment on what mental illness strangers might or might not have because they don't behave in a way that you deem acceptable. There are plenty of people in my life who would think that spending $10,000+ on one single bag is an indication of mental illness. But that's why I'm here, to find like-minded people that I can discuss this weird obsession with, without feeling like I belong in some sort of asylum :flowers:

PS: I would venture to guess that there are members on tPF who buy something new every few weeks, who have 45+ bags and multiple duplicates of the same style, and who buy and sell regularly. I like bags and I like looking at bags, so if someone else is spending money to show me eye candy, I'm all for it :coolio:

Who says that?

Does it trouble you? Let people talk. One spends money on bags, an other does on trips and if it fits your bank account, why not:confused1:

No one here accused Jess of having a shopping addiction. I simply stated it is ODD consumption if what the other TPFer said is true she is selling entire collections of items.

We are allowed to have our own viewpoints and commentary. Some of us think owning 45 of the same branded bags is weird. Some of us don't. That doesn't mean anyone should not be allowed to voice their opinions. If you are so triggered, that is not our problem, that is your problem.

Have you not seen the past 200+ pages of this forum? We have MANY influencers lying, scamming, committing fraud, purchasing fake bags, chronically shopping and reselling everything they buy all for the sake of having content to post (or scratching the itch of an addiction). Other threads have discussed the normalization of chronic consumer debt because folks want to post online. But hey, if it's eye candy for you and those who don't think twice, who cares right?

This is deeper than just bags and eye candy.

But, I suppose not everyone is capable of understanding that.

Bc some are misunderstanding what people are saying and are unable to have a serious conversation about consumption patterns. Can we not disagree civilly? Influencers are quite literally shaping society's consumption and it is fair game to discuss.

Well, I agree, and that's why I voiced my opinion :amuse:

That's the point I'm making, isn't it :amuse: As long as it fits [the influencer's] bank account, why not
