I'm too embarrassed to take this out in public, think they can repair it?

My pouchette from 2004 looks the same. My canvas is tearing a bit more. I took it in and LV said that it is normal and they can't repair the canvas. I'm going buy a bit newer one pre loved. It's unfortunate but it did last for many years.

I bought this pochette new in the fall of 2010, and it's very well loved, I carry it every day.

But it looks so bizarre anymore, that I'm getting embarrassed to pull it out of my bag...my metals are turning into a rainbow!

The D rings on the side are completely silver, there isn't a trace of gold or brass on them. No chipping, just smooth silver color. The zipper pull is a matte, kind of light yellow, and the gold color is peeling off...and the clasp is a very dark and bright brassy gold color.

All of the metal has faded or turned color, but every piece is a different color- it looks terrible.

I'm sure it's wear and tear, like I said, I carry it daily- but do you think they would let me pay to have all of the metal replaced? And how much that might be? I'm wondering if it would even be worth it, but I have to do something, I don't want to carry it like this anymore, it looks ugly. :p

My D-ring on mine is starting to turn silver (just a little) and I went into LV a few weeks ago to ask how much they would charge to replace it and my SA say it was free and the zipper pull should be free as well....GL

Cool! I still haven't made it to LV..but I'm going when de speedy b is released, and will take it and ask!

Are you wearing an extener on your pochette accessories bag? I read somewhere that all the clinging and surface contact with your other brass pieces such as a pochette extender or bag charms, may prematurely turn your D ring/or clasp hardware different colors such as silver or a light brass tinted complexion. Try removing your extender when you're not using the pochette.

TOS (Totally Off Subject) but I notice that the LV brass lockets used for speedy's and other LV bags have a bad effect on the vachetta parts on the leather parts of the bags. I had a Bosphore GM Messenger and I put a lock on the D clasp on the outside of the leather trim. After a couple of days (2 at the most) I noticed that the lock turned the vachetta a darker color and there was a stain after I removed the lock. The stain gradually turned lighter and lighter but never completely went away. So beware of adding a lock onto your monogram speedy's with a light colored vachetta. So everyone beware of the brass tarnishing your untreated leather if left on for a significant amount of time.

I don't own an extender..I usually don't even keep the vachetta strap attached to the pochette, because I don't use it. The only thing that touches the brass is my hands, and I don't use lotions or sanitizers.

But yes, on any bag where the brass rubs against vachetta it leaves black marks. They wipe off with baby wipes, but it's still annoying. lol

The hardware now is awful. The zipper on my speedy b is horrendous. No joke. It is all chipped and is a cheap brass color with black spots all over it.

I know what you mean. I was utterly shocked when I saw the speedy b in person. Felt so flimsy and the vachetta strips on the side were so so thin compared to vintage bags which had vachetta trim. The zippers are all made in china now of inferior materials and all will turn silver. The speedy b handles feel thinner and less substantial too. You know, if it's turning that fast, this is a new release. You might be able to get a refund for that.

UPDATE-

I just wanted to mention that I finally talked to my SA yesterday- great news!

First, my cles was also a wreck, she took it in the back and replaced the zipper, the end of the zipper AND the key ring for free, and it took about 5 minutes!

She said to bring in my pochette anytime, but it has to be sent away. It costs 10-15 and they'll replace all of the rings and zipper pulls. Yay!

I was wondering if you got it done and what the actually cost was. I got a preowned mini pochette for my daughter and want to get one ring and the zipper pull replaced.

I'm here from the future and wondering if anyone will respond  I have a 1998 vintage Pochette Accessories from France and I thought that I should just keep it vintage but I hate how it looks with the silver D rings so I am going to stop in LV to see what they can do. I will be sad to lose the Made in France stamp however; I'd prefer it to look nicer with gold D rings. I'm curious what it will cost. I will also ask for the strap replaced to match and update here on the 2025 rates.
