i have looked at the photos too and it looks normal to me too - what you would expect of leather when it is being bent to get in to a bag? It is going to have some lines through it, same as when you wear a pair of leather shoes and they get creases in the sides where your feet bend as you take a step? I would think this is pretty normal?
+1

I completely understand you..i remember when i started a thread about my neverfull mm in mono wrinkling...i really made a fuss and some people think im overreacting or something...i know its just a wrinkle but its the worsening that worries you right...i just hope yours and my bag wont lead to a tear or something. I guess its because of the Strap bending....Ive tried putting pillows or clothes in between the strap and keeping the strap upright as much as possible...

I think your bag looks great!! Very normal. You'll hardly notice or care when your bag is nice and broken in. The canvas also gets soft and bendy. Think of it as that awkward length of hair when you're trying to grow it long haha

My handles look like that too. They are creased but they've never cracked. I think you will be fine. If it helps to ease your mind bring it in, it can't hurt. Good luck!

This is how my mono NF looks on one of the handle. I had it for 4 months. The winkles are so heavy. Should I ask about it too? I am also afraid they said is wear and tear. But is only on this one tab area. The other sides haven't winkle. I also saw other brand new bags like the speedy b with the side winkles like this. So I don't know if is the nature of the leather when bend will winkle. Let me know what your SA say.

I have to agree, it looks like creasing which is normal. I have a nf mm in azure and it has creasing. It can't be helped as when the straps bend outwards you can see how it creases.

I purchased my DE Neverfull mm in August last year. I was assured by my SA, who is also the manager, that the cracking issue was resolved. He stated that if I ever had any problems that I could exchange the bag.
Well I just happened to be switching over to my Neverfull and decided to do a once over, and what do you know........cracking!!!!

I am so upset as I love this bag but I just can't carry her knowing that over time it is only going to get worse. I plan on going to LV this weekend to inquire about exchanging for either the mono or azure. I pray I have no issues with the exchange since I was told I wouldn't. I'm going to call first to make sure my SA is there before making the 45 minute driven.
For those of you that had the cracking issues, and successfully exchanged, how long did you have your bag prior to exchanging? It's been almost 7 months since I've had mine and I'm worried that they will tell me it's wear and tear. Which it's clearly not as I have only carried it a handful of times.
I'll attach some pics so you can see the cracking.

Both look completely normal to me. Almost all of my Louis Vuitton bags have some form of creasing, ranging from mild like yours to worse than this.
My DE Speedy leather tab zipper pull on the top of the bag is particularly bad, lucky with this style that I just carry it open all the time to reduce it getting worse.

Th creases look to me like normal use, it is a bag designed to carry quite a heavy load and with weight in the bag it will cause the leather to soften and therefore crease more easily than when empty.

My advice is that even if you exchange your bags for a new one, not only will the new one do the same thing (crease) but you will be forever staring at it and expecting it to see what 'damage' has occurred which can be frustrating. I had the same experience but with a Chanel bags stitching coming lose and I originally exchanged and it drove me so crazy staring at the new bag which the same stitching problem happened again that I decided not to have that style bag in my collection and exchanged that one for something completely different.

If it truly does cause you stress consider exchanging for a different style

From your pics, this looks like normal creasing on the strap. The leather on DE is much stiffer at first, so it's only way to "give" is with some natural wrinkling...even only with a few months of use. My DE NF is new, and I'm sure my straps will break in very similarly to yours. My DE Bloomsbury from last year has creasing on the strap...normal wear & tear. Suggestions...store your bag away from heat sources and hung on a soft, padded hanger so the straps are not bent over in storage.

my thoughts on this are that with the vachetta, i don't mind the wrinkling as it is just the leather flexing and softening. with the de i have more concern because it is coated. what starts as creasing in the brown coating can progress to cracking with the raw leather visible through the cracks. i can't tell from you photos if that is where yours is headed. perhaps it's just wrinkling and will never move on to full on cracking? if this were drum dyed leather where the color permeates throughout the leather it wouldn't be a problem, but because it is coated, i always worry about how far it will go. some people have had great luck with the straps, others not so much. i would keep an eye on it and if it truly breaks through i would want to think about doing something about it.

This is exactly my fear. If I bend the straps enough it is clear that they are starting to crack. It is very difficult to see in the pics. The first pic is on the handle that is the worst. The rest are heading that way.
I store my bags in their dust bags and my Neverfull is always stored stuffed with straps sitting upright so they are not folding over while stored.

I'm going to take it in this wknd and see what they say. If allowed to exchange then I will get either the mono or Azur. I'm not chancing another DE. :(

I'm surprised at the lack of longevity for Louis Vuitton considering their prices. Lots of their things seem to crack and peel in different places. ie). canvas, glazing, things like that.
I have had many Coach purses and wallets, never any cracking or peeling and the leather is still going strong, go figure.

When my mom comments on the do's and donts of my lv bag such as no holding when hands are wet or with lotion , no using when it rains or too hot etc, i tell her lv is similar to a a dog with breed and a regular one.. While the one with breed requires vet visits or vaccines, the regular one survives really long without any vet or medical treatment , maybe just anti rabies once a year. I guess the more expensive one is the more high maintenance it is....

for what it's worth, i purchased and returned the de nf gm for this reason. i love love love the bag but i knew that cracking would be a really upsetting situation for me. i wound up with the nf in both mono and da. i wish i could feel confident about the de, but i just can't . i am going to get the de totally that's coming out march 28. my thought on that is that because there is a brass ring, the leather won't have to bend the way it does with the nf and even the marylebone which has also had cracking issues. the handles on the totally will just swivel on the brass ring. i will also add that i have carried my de speedies a LOT and have never had an issue with cracking. hope i'm right about the totally and hope this helps you. best of luck
