I had a bag come from L&T today, and the box looked like yours!
The bag was OK, though. I was lucky it was a square coated canvas tote and stuffed pretty well.Definitely will think again before ordering from them, though

Everyone receiving damaged boxes or poorly packed boxes should complain so maybe they get better. Complain to them and if exterior is bad, to UPS also. Post pics here too. This needs to stop!

Oh ugh!!! That's not right! I had my KS bag delivered last wk from L&T and the box was fine. The purse was nicely wrapped too with plenty of space. I find that it seems to be the larger handbags that get a lot of the bag abuse since they try to shove them it too tight of a box. Hate that!

I've had the same size bag shipped from them before in pristine condition so it depends who packs. I'm thinking this packer needs schooling

It's happened to me twice from Lord and Taylor and three times from Macys.

We need to start a thread depicting pictures, dates of order, shipping company, and order numbers.

It's nice when they give you additional discounts and gift cards to make up for it, but its not fixing the problem.

Essentially inventory fulfillment is their business, and I guarantee you their number 1 priority is speed. I'm also sure that their Enterprise Asset Management software contains specific attributes for inventory items.

Thats why they wouldn't ship a Tiffany's vase like that. It would be carefully packaged. These handbags need to be reclassified and they won't see it as a problem until they realize how much money they are spending on shipping returns, labor to handle the physical return, and labor for billing and accounting.

Thus far I believe Macys and Lord and Taylor to have this issue. L & T tends to use thinner boxes which get mauled in shipping. Obviously they're paying good money for these boxes since their logo is stamped across them. They definitely need to address this with their supplier.

Macys on the other hand, has sturdy boxes, but the software is consistently miscalculating the correct box size. In addition, the software is allowing the handbags to be shipped in bags.

In summary these issues must be resolved:

Reclassification of the handbags and their attributes to qualify them for fragile shipping which means no bags and they can't be crammed with other items.

Recalculation of the size of the handbags, i.e., the handles extended make the overall volume of the handbag larger, which requires a larger box. They need to take into consideration how the bags are received from the manufacturer, which often includes the handles extended.

They will evaluate the problem only if they start getting a large number of complaints based on the same issue and if they see their profit margin going down due to returns and reshipments.

That is awful! There sure have been a lot of shipping horror stories lately! I have to tell you, it makes me think twice about placing an order online for a bag. I think I'd rather wait and find one in person at a store so I can inspect it.

When I get a bag at Dillards, a lot of the time they will let me look at the one on the shelf - put it on check myself out in the mirror, etc., and then if I decide I want it they will put it back on the shelf and get me a 'fresh' one from the back. That's usually the term the SA uses - 'fresh one'. And I get to go home with a perfect bag wrapped to the nines.

(It helps that all of the SA's at my Dillards know me by name, lol. I've been coming in for awhile now buying Coach and now MK bags. They love to see me comining.)

I hope you can get it all resolved quickly. Such a shame - that was Sapphire - such a gorgeous color. But what gets me is the corner wear! That's a bag that should have been kept as a damaged bag by the store. Terrible.

Ugh! How frustrating. I have not ordered from L&T but have had the same issue with Macy's. I ordered two of the mini Hamiltons last month and they came shipped together in a PLASTIC BAG!!! No padding or bubble wrap of any kind. One of them was so crushed it was ridiculous. I exchanged it at the store but was seriously angry at them for ruining a perfectly good bag.

I was also surprised they tried to send that out! They are now offering to mail me a $25 giftcard and they will give me 25% off if I want to repurchase that bag. Even with both of those offers, I am very reluctant to order online/via phone from them and there aren't stores in my state. I mailed back the horrible package today. They have already issued credit.

I tell ya, they work quicker at helping when you post on their Facebook wall!

I'm so sorry this happened to your shipment. Hopefully, it will be rectified expeditiously. My L&T shipment just went out today, so I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't look anything like yours when it arrives. :(
My L&T shipment just arrived today and is in perfect condition. So sorry for your situation. It sounds like the social media response is working, though.

I'm soo sorry this happened to you! I've been away a while, trying to finish up this school year without harming someones child (lol) and haven't really done any shopping... However, last week I ordered the Mandarin Sophie from Lord & Taylor w/my fingers crossed since I've had bad experiences, too.
It's a larger bag, so I was relieved to see a cube-like sized box in really good shape. The bag was perfect, I guess. They had taken the tags off (why, I'm not sure) but everything was still wrapped up pretty good. I was surprised, to say the least. Now... just deciding if I'll keep this bag in this color. (I tried a Mandarin in the saffiano leather, so this is pebble leather and a different color/texture.)
Anyway, I hate this happened to you & am proud that you stood up for yourself and actually got something done!

Thank you. I think it is good to share experiences. It gives everyone an idea of what to do if this happens as well.
