they have a web site but for some reason the stuff featured on the web site is pretty sad looking. in store they have some awesome styles and they have this really pretty new old rose gold metallic for spring. the s.a. said 'scratch it!' and i was like, no, i couldn't possibly... she wanted to prove that it was dyed and not foil and so not as vulnerable as some other metallic bags to damage... definitely worth going in to a store if you can...

I found a couple of images for you LulaMaeBarnes, but even online it's hard to find pics of Il Bisonte bags

fashionista blog recently posted about Il Bisonte, describing them as the perfect 'anti-It bags'

i found some more. the messenger with the flap is the closest i could find to the one in store but it is not quite the same. the orange color is seen in the picture with the small clutches. they have such a zero web presence and that presence is not representative of the actual stuff...

Il Bisonte bags rock!?!?! The designer is Wanny di Filippo (sp?) and he had a fabulous shop in Florence, Italy, when I discovered him years ago. Now my daughters have discovered my old "The Bison" bags and think they are super cool. These bags were made to last. Some of them I bought 30 years ago...there was an Il Bisonte shop in Soho (maybe on Thompson or Sullivan street) when I was in NYC a couple of years back.

The Il Bisonte boutique is still on Sullivan Street in SoHo. I agree with you ladies, the website does these gorgeous bags with the suple cowhide no justice at all. While the designs don't have alot of fancy hardware or bling the italian leather is to die for. The colors are gorgeous and all take on a beautiful patina; and when I walk into my closet the smell of the leather (over all of my other high end designer bags) screams out as if they were brand new. (and they are several years old) Their line includes everything from small clutches to oversized handbags.. Even though I live by my blackberry, I refuse to go to work or a meeting without my Il Bisonte agenda that I have been using for years, and it gets better everyday. Definately a line to consider if there is a boutique in your area. (they will also email you pictures if you call them)

Il Bisonte, by far, is the epitome of NYC area "old school" chic. It is a perfect "brand" for someone with the confidence to carry a bag for the gorgeous leather, rather than for the name. The fact that there are only two retail stores in the States, NYC (Soho) and Beverly Hills, keeps it's exclusivity to only those familiar with the product.

The leathers are stunning and classic. It's "vache naturelle" is amazing. It develops over time into a fabulous piece, showing all the signs of love and activity it gets! That's part of the fun. I recently rediscovered it after observing a new friend toting around one that she has carried for over 20 years. She can carry any bag she chooses, and that impressed me even more. I paid a visit back to the Sullivan Street boutique and viola! -- gladly put away the Hermes for a while!

wow! i'm glad someone started a thread about il bisonte! it's just so understated and amazing in quality...i love their side bags with the matching mini pouches. to be honest, i had never heard of il bisonte until i started working because my employer distributes il bisonte in australia. i hope it recieves a huge following soon!
