If you had $4000AUD ($2700USD) to spend, what piece would you pick?

How about this?
Do you want a work bag or a causal bag?
What capacity do you need (what do you NEED to fit inside realistically)?
What style are you looking for (more formal or more relaxed)?
Which colors do you prefer?
What do you already have in your collection so you don't repeat something?

Then I think it's time to go shopping. Try on everything in person (fun of shopping), then narrow it down to 3. But then again, you don't need to spend it right away if you don't feel like you're walking away with a MUST-Have handbag. Check out YouTube reviews on wear and tear and styling tips. See if you can envision owning one.

I know if I am eager to spend ~$3000, I know what I want. But I also want it when I travel so I can get it duty free. This year I'm being extra stingy because rather than building, I'm trying to narrow down my collection and free up closet space.

Have fun!

You guessed it, I am travelling soon  I think for the previous two years I’ve pretty much been buying only pre-loved pieces and pulling the trigger on things so quickly, actually saving up to buy something in store is making me indecisive cos suddenly all options are available!

I would get the LV side trunk, either in the mono, or the leather. For other brands I would choose the Lady Dior.

I saw someone with the Side Trunk in black leather and it looks AMAZING, but it’s not even on the Australian website so looks like I’ll settle for the monogram :)

LV: Keepall 25 - ir has a great size for a smaller bag and is very easy to handle and wear!

Other. Definitely Loewe Puzzle, fabulous understated bag which is roomy even in the small size and has fantastic leather!

Keepall 25 has been on the wishlist since the size came out! Just waiting for a colour that speaks to me since the men’s collection always get the fun colour-ways

Thanks everyone for their input! I think I’ve settled on the Side Trunk in the classic monogram. The historic LV details are amazing and the shape is familiar to some of my most used bags. It’s also smooshy and delicious

I might try hunting for a preloved Loewe Medium Puzzle bag in their classic Tan leather while on holiday, definitely my ultimate dream bag just because I know how much I’ll use it. But happy to wait for that one :)

Thanks again everyone! I’ll post photos of the reveal later if anyone is interested

Yes, I love the side trunk. The monogram version is so quintessential LV! Can’t wait to see pics.

I am just following up to see if you ended up with the Side trunk and if you had a reveal post? I haven't seen many side trunks out in the wild and am looking for more details of them

And sorry for the late reply, I’ve been away for a bit and I actually only picked up the trunk yesterday! I’ve taken some pics (sorry no mod shots), it’s brand spanking new so stickers are still on it.

I’ve put a bunch of different straps with it if that helps you decision making! Any other angles/details you can let me know, but I’ll be taking it out this weekend for more action shots too

I’m liking the Dauphine chain strap with it (pretty much the most versatile thing in my collection haha), since it makes going under the arm easy. Though it does make it super loud with all the corner gold hardware AND the gold chain strap. You can use the smaller VVN strap that comes with the bag, but it's just a bit tight and you end up squashing the bag against your body. Not sure about the thinner VVN crossbody strap that comes with it, but I can always switch it to my monogram one.

There's also a small spot in the centre of the bag that seems to dip... was on the display model I saw as well, which had a bigger dip closer to zipper but still on the 'face' of the bag. At least in the centre I can justify it's where the bag naturally softens, and even where you might grab the bag to move it around... but truthfully not sure what's causing it cos it's not on the back. I'll be stuffing it with air bubbles for the week to see if it comes out. Was told it's a characteristic of the bag when I asked about it on the display model. Not a big deal! Thought I'd put it out there, if anyone has the bag and has a similar issue.

So far first impressions: it's delightfully squashy and I'm in love

Thank you so much for such a detailed post!!

I am glad you were able to make a decision and get her (even if it was only recently)! AND I LOVE IT WITH THE CHAIN STRAP TOO!

The dip in the canvas emphasises its smooshy-ness but retains structure because of the sides. In some of the modelling shots with Jennifer Connelly, the side trunks had those dips as well... So maybe normal?

May I also ask about the inside? It looks roomy but how much does it fit? What is the lining like?

Haha, you guys are right! Already been sitting on the decision for a while and letting it save up. I was always thinking of something from Louis Vuitton, but then just suddenly thought, 'There's a lot more beautiful bags/brands to choose from why not have a look?' (Bad idea for the most indecisive person on earth )
This is all good advice and definitely worth thinking about. I was in love with the Loop from the moment I saw the shape resurface in the market. I waited over a year and picked up a small 10" one which I later resold. Just too small. Looked at reviews galore and ultimately went for the Loop Hobo. NO REGRETS. Meanwhile I have discovered I simply love trunks. Picked up a Gucci white and silver trunk I love, love, love. I love the size. shape and security but it must be big enough to accommodate all of my daily needs. So think long and hard about your decision. You can find a lot preloved without breaking the bank. All of my preloved bags have been like new. I've done a lot of research but I've also sold some like new ones that I've taken care of. Occasionally I just go for the boutique experience but we are lucky there is so much out there to help us decide. LV has great branding but so don't other companies that command a smaller price point so there is a lot to think about when constructing your forever collection.
