If you could only save one bag from your collection, which would it be and why?

I may have responded to this long ago. Not sure, because this thread has become serpentine. I had to give this some thought, because I was forced to downsize my collection (space, etc.). I would save my Coach Patricia Legacy in black leather and brass. It has classic, beautiful lines and no contrast stitching. It has a wide enough shoulder strap, a handy slip pocket and the wonderful smell of leather. It holds enough of my stuff. (My LV PA was in the running, but it's just too small and I would still need to use it, right?) Most importantly, I look at it as a memory; my then significant other had made a special trip to the factory store to pick it up for me. (At the time, Coach had discontinued the manufacture of this wonderful design.)

I have been in a situation where we had to evacuate because there was a fire downstairs in a neighbouring flat. And let me tell you it all happens so fast that you don’t even think about your belongings. In that moment I thought “what do I need to survive with immediately?” Grabbed my husband and phone (to call for help) He had his wallet and keys already. We ran out the door. No bags ever came into my thoughts in that moment. Makes you really remember what is important.

Hypothetically though I would save my little Gucci microguccisima dome bag because it was such a special purchase with hubby. It’s my least expensive luxury bag but most memorable purchase. And hopefully I’ll be wearing my full wedding set as that means most to me as far as things go.

My LV Tambourine bag from 2003. My grandmother gave it to me for my college graduation. It was also my first high end designer bag (and the only one that has ever been gifted to me). My grandmother passed away about three months later so this is the last gift I ever received from her. It will always stay with me.

This definitely makes it a very special bag!
So sorry about your grandmother :(

My heart sinks to have read here about people who have been in this situation, so wanted to say my heart goes out to you and I hope everything is better by now <3

Going back to the hypothetical, if I could only keep one bag, I think I would save my black Kelly 25. It’s made from a sturdy leather so it doesn’t require babying, it’s not too small or too big and it can be worn with or without the strap, making it an easy bag to wear during the day or for dressier occasions and being such a classic it’ll never go out of style.

Without a doubt a once in a lifetime bag.

Sorry if I am digging up an old thread but I just had the opportunity to buy this bag yesterday and I did! It is in mint never used condition. So excited to see your post! It makes me excited for my bag that is coming!

I say that would have been my LV speedy fleur de jas. It was a surprise gift from my husband for our anniversary but sadly, it was stolen during an in home burglary. It was never replaced as the moment could not be duplicated. Any replacement is just a poor replica to that special bag that is now gone! Nowadays, I am not attached to any of my bag collection as I can always buy them back with money!

If you could only pick one bag out of your collection and use that one handbag forever, what would it be?

For me, I would probably choose the Polene Huit. Polene Neuf holds more but the top handle can dig into my arm. The polene Huit holds a ton, always looks nice, and has feet.

I rarely carry it these days, but my parents gifted me a Speedy 25 for my high school graduation. It’s a great bag and I could never let it go. I wear black pretty much exclusively now, so I need to figure out how to pull off the LV mono again.

Oh, hmm, the thread the One Bag Tag post got merged with is actually a different, easier question. For which one you would save, even if the rest of them get lost in a flood, you can go get others later. For the one bag tag, you can only have one, ever.

For the first question, I’d save my Brahmin Large Duxbury in Regal Mini Melbourne. So pretty with the iridescent veining, and so much more tactile pleasant than my other Brahmins. For the one bag tag, I’d go with my latest acquisition, Coach Swagger 27. It’s black with mixed metal accents, so it’s not boring but still is able to go well with everything.

Only one???? No!!! Thats tough to answer! Cant I have 2?? But if only 1 then its the chanel classic jumbo my husbabd got me for christmas…. But if i can just grab another one then its a guess bag which was a first bag gift from him too before we got married
