Agreed! my 24 year old vintage bolide is the bag that started me on the slippery Hermes slope, and its still my favourite, and it still looks immaculate
The LV Neverfull. It's not a bag I love, or even plan on owning, but in terms of it being the sole bag you own, I can't imagine you could do worse. It's lightweight, classic styling, respected brand, holds quite a bit without being too large, fits on the shoulders, good for work and play.
My lambskin Lady Dior! This is what I've been carrying every weekend lately (and to the office when I've had to work weekends), and it fits all the essentials. I definitely can't fit files or a laptop for work, but I guess I could make do with a document portfolio or something.

As much as I love all my Jimmy Choos, if I could only carry one bag it would probably be my Bottega Veneta medium veneta in Armatura. It goes with everything and is a low key metallic, soft and light weight bag that can be worn on the shoulder of hand carried.
I would "love" to say Hermes Kelly but I don't have it so my choice will be either one of my Chanel Flap in black or red.
