I wore my Alma monogram PM and felt like a "fuddy-duddy".

I wore my Alma with boyfriend jeans, a black well fitting crew tee and a black nylon coat-and still felt "fuddy-duddy!!!!! I guess I am "comparing" my Alma to those wearing "it" bags!!!!!!!

You are obviously far more fashionable than me. Apart from minis, I wouldn't know a current 'it' bag if it hit me on the head :bagslap:

Tp papertiger.

I guess the "it' bags that I see are-the LV Coussin, and the Bottega Cassette.

It bags come and go :dog: .

The reason why the Chanel reissue (1955) the Hermes Kelly (1930s as a Sac Depeche) and Gucci Bamboo Top-handle (1947) are called classics are because they are reissued again and again, never really out of fashion. The Alma is almost a century old, created in the Modern age (1930 - high Art Deco).

You have taste!

You have style!

You have a classic!

You have summed it up perfectly:smile:

I think this is indeed very subjective. You chose that outfit for a reason that day and then you let others indirectly make you feel old-fashioned - which definitely wasn't the case. I am pretty sure nobody actually thought that. Probably some even thought that you look really cool with that outfit and the classic Alma. I am not a fan of "IT-Bags" they are hot for a season and then they are out and never be seen again. The Alma is forever. Wear her with confidence !

I love using my 27 yr old Alma pm. I think it’s a classic.. I actually love when I see someone wearing a well loved classic LV bag. Funny, I get most compliments and comments when I’m carrying my Galliera pm. I had a woman come up to me the other day in the grocery store just to tell me that it is her favorite LV bag ever. I also love carrying my classic Speedys.

I went through the same feelings with my alma in damier ebene too. I bought it because it’s a classic but never reached for it. I ended up selling it and have never regretted it. I later realized what my problem was with the bag. It’s too “dressy” for my style. I have a laid back, casual style. White t shirt, ankle jeans and Oran sandals are my summer dress code :). All of my bags are either shoulder bags or cross body bags. Maybe you are similar and that’s why it felt fuddy duddyish?

I have always been a fan of the Alma and I still think it is a great looking LV. I have not worn my Alma PM Monogram in a VERY long time. i finally did wear it in a very fashionable area and I felt like a "fuddy-duddy". I do like to wear fashionable accessories and thought the Alma was fashionable. Most of the handbags worn where I was -were "up-to date" handbags. I know i should not compare what I wear to what others wear and should wear what I like. but-I still felt like a "fuddy-duddy".
It looks like these days everyone is either carrying small crossbody bags or large totes like the size of a Neverfull. You don’t see many people carrying medium handheld sized bags that much anymore. Maybe that’s why it feels dated. I prefer a medium sized bag because I carry too much. I noticed a lot of women out in Central London carrying small crossbody bags including a lot with chain straps and a canvas tote on the shoulder to carry extra things.

Girl, sounds like your rocked that Alma! It is a classic, while lots of those It bags, come and go at the drop of a hat. Maybe you can try a strap, or chain or some satin twillys wrapped around the handles for a different look
