I wore my Alma monogram PM and felt like a "fuddy-duddy".

I have always been a fan of the Alma and I still think it is a great looking LV. I have not worn my Alma PM Monogram in a VERY long time. i finally did wear it in a very fashionable area and I felt like a "fuddy-duddy". I do like to wear fashionable accessories and thought the Alma was fashionable. Most of the handbags worn where I was -were "up-to date" handbags. I know i should not compare what I wear to what others wear and should wear what I like. but-I still felt like a "fuddy-duddy".

I'm sure you didn't look it at all, but I know what it's like to feel uncomfortable with a look that just feels wrong. Usually, it's more the entire outfit and how we wear it rather than just the bag.

When I was younger, I went to a job interview in a skirt suit and a Burberry full-length trench. I felt like a fraud. I felt terrible. Had I worn the same coat with a mini/opaque tights and a sweater I would have been fine. Had I worn the skirt suit with a cape, again fine. It's not what we wear it's how we style what we have. I need a bit of style 'drama' about my outfit or I feel awful.

I don't have an Alma but I have Hermes and Gucci dome bags. Dome bags are smart, clean, minimalist, everything else has to be perhaps a bit more messed, laid-back 'undone' or embrace the minimalist Modern vibe and let the mono-print do all the talking.

i think your outfit was probably more than fine. i'm a huge fan of the alma, both pm and bb and love how it can be worn with classics and can take on a modern look. i think it's still very current. alma is a style that will be around for a long time to come, never looking dated. louis vuitton canvas has a knack of looking good with most things unless the wear just has made no effort.

personally, if i can't be arsed with my outfit, i don't just stick on a "luxury" bag and hope for the best. i've got a naturally scruffy look with wild irish coarse textured grey hair and i really do have to groom myself and think about how i present myself overall

The LV monogram alma is a classic. As are the classic flap, the reissue, the H BKC. I’m not sure what an up to date handbag is, but that’s bc I may not own one lol. Agree with @papertiger that a classic paired with a skirted suit would make me feel like a fraud, but you can experiment with other things to make the LV alma more of the moment, at least in your head. I am certain you looked perfectly appropriate; how we feel with what we wear is often a mental adjustment. :)

@hoopsie, I love your sentiment if I can’t be arsed with my outfit, I don’t just stick on a luxury bag and hope for the best :) personally, I think that on,y works if one is young, tall, and thin ( I’m none of the above lol

I know what you mean. I feel the same way when I wear my DE Speedy 30 (non-B :)). It's not that I think DE is outdated, or the speedy shape is outdated, but that particular combo that used to be super popular at one point and is no longer quite as popular. Just know you still have a classic combination that will probably come in and out of style... that's bound to happen to "classics" as they by definition get used over long periods of time and styles change! I feel the same about other long-term styles like the Bal City, Prada nylon bags, Burberry scarf, heck Ugg boots.

"I know what you mean. I feel the same way when I wear my DE Speedy 30 "-
I also have the Speedy classic 30 DE. I do not feel as much of a "fuddy duddy" when I wear my Speedy.

I also have Burberry scarves-haven't worn them a long time-and Ugg boots-also sitting in my closet!!!!! I recently bought the Prada re-edition mini nylon. i gave my older one to a relative along time ago. I missed it so I bought it again!!!!

I wore my Alma with boyfriend jeans, a black well fitting crew tee and a black nylon coat-and still felt "fuddy-duddy!!!!! I guess I am "comparing" my Alma to those wearing "it" bags!!!!!!!
Jeez, that would've looked really cute. You just aren't feeling it, it seems. Hard for anyone to give advice bc it's subjective--but maybe hang on and try again in a few months and see how your mood is about it.
