I have about 20 bags at the moment, and that feels like plenty. If I find a style that really works for me, I’ll often get it in mutiple colours or sizes.
For awhile I was getting different styles and colours but I’ve realized that those bags never got used. I prefer classic bag styles and colours that I don’t have to switch daily. I’ve now passed along those bags to my daughters and their friends. Everyone is happy and I’m much more selective.
The bulk of my collection is
Coach 1941 and LV. I love Coach Rogues (the older style) and have six. I have three different sizes and two have tea roses. No regrets about those. I also like Coach Dinky bags (particularly the discontinued 24 size) and have 4 of these. That’s 10’right there and there are none I’d like to part with.
I also love LV NFs and have just purchased a third. I am using my Speedy B a ton and may consider adding a second in the Classic style eventually, but not anytime soon. My evening bags are matching Lady Dior clutches, one black and one powder pink.
I then have a handful of bags I own just one of, and have no desire to add any others.
I just cleaned out 4 bags to make room (physically and mentally) for two recent LV purchases. I feel bag content at the moment. All of my bag needs are met with what I have. I can just enjoy other styles on others without needing to own them. I know they would not get enough rotation to make it worth their cost to me.
What helped me focus was paying attention to what I reach for over and over, and what I most enjoy carrying. Anything else (however pristine or lovely) got culled. It made more sense to pass on an essentially brand new bag to someone else who would get joy from carrying it while it was still current.
