Dates and types of Jackies and Bouviers (most of this is quoting myself from the Gucci Information Thread)

Approx. Jackie/Bouvier Time line

late 1958 - Bouvier first made

early 1961 - Jackie (like the Bouvier but with a wider gusset and piston lock) first made

1970s both variations available

late-90s mini Jackies (not as small as 2020's mini)

mid-00s Bouviers and Jackies available, Bouviers in some incredibly detailed embellishments on Ltd. Ed. variations

Late-00s (2008?) New Jackie launched (the very large size scaled down in 2010)

2011 original jackie re-launched with extra length in shoulder strap

2014 - Jackie Soft launched

2020 - Jackie 1961 (re)launched, including a mini version

I'm considering the small Jackie 1961 in black leather for my first premium designer bag, but I can't find many reviews of it online.

I'd love if someone could share how the bag holds up over time. I did see a review noting flaking within a year on the mini size.

I'm also curious to know if the shape and size are practical, and how comfortable the bag is.

Looking for a bag that can take me from work to weekend outings to nice dinners. I'm also considering the Celine belt bag in nano and the YSL camera. TIA!

Hello!

I am really considering purchasing the Jackie in the small size. I want to know from those of you that already own this bag, how does the shiny leather hold up?
I keep looking at pics and I like the grained leather, just wondering about the shiny leather. The extra strap makes the bag an easy to wear crossbody?

Thanks!

The cross body fits perfectly for me, but it really depends on your height. And I would compare this leather as being similar to Hermes box leather, although this one seems much more rugged. I honestly haven’t use the bag that much to have any issues.

What a beautiful bag! I’m trying to decide between the Jackie small natural grain in the black leather or the chair brown leather. I have a few LV pieces so this will be my very first Gucci purchase. And I’m also looking at the Céline Besace 16 in calf leather As well as the Teen Chain Besace Triomphe in shiny calfskin black. I like that the Jackie can be worn on the shoulder as well as a crossbody. I’m 5’8” was wondering if anyone here in the taller side has worn it crossbody. I’m leaning towards the Jackie 1961 more than Céline right now as it’s a classic style, but would appreciate any help from anyone who has any insights. Thanks!

I am planning to purchase a small Gucci Jackie on an upcoming trip to Vegas. I have been scouting out pics of others wearing the bag that are on the tall side and from what I see wearing the bag crossbody looks great!
