bb10lue: Thank you, but you have such a nice collection yourself it's me that I envy your rolex and J12.
Saligator: Thanks for doing the research it's helping me to clear any doubt...
And thank you everyone for the great comments! I appreciate it!:smile1:

Yes, I'm now relieved I was freaking out. I must e-mail the guys about this ten times the night I post my doubt. But he reassure me by always respond that the watch was authentic and to come see him tuesday. It's the problem when you buy pre-owned it take time to be sure 100% about the authenticity. And I have a question for the owner of Cartier Tank: is it suppose to glow in the dark? When I was doing my research about real/fake Cartier it's talk about the luminova but they wasn't clear about it for the Tank. Please let me know if you heard something about the luminova and the Cartier Tank. Thanks!:smile1::smile1::smile1:

Hello, I am a HUGE watch collector, and if you take some clear pics of the case back I can probably help you identify if it's a fake or not. When you bought the watch, did it come with paper work? High-end watches ALWAYS should come with paperwork.

Also, Luminova is the glowing material painted on the watch (actually called Super Luminova, a compound originally created by Seiko called Lumibrite). Replicas are very accurate nowadays, to the point of having Super Luminova painted on them (the paint can be easily bought).

Lastly, I would not trust the word of an employee of an authorized dealer. Typically, these people are trained to sell watches, not trained to know technical things about watches. If he doesn't check the serial numbers or take off the case back to inspect the watch, do not believe his word that it is real. The foolproof way to check if a watch is real is to remove the case back and see for yourself, or post pics online and have people analyze it.

To see if the employee is knowledgable enough to verify if a Cartier is authentic or not, ask him specifically what movement the watch has. If he says Caliber 120, ask him what movement it's based on. The watch should have the Cartier Cal 120, which is based on an ETA base caliber, the 2000-. If he does not know this, I would wager that he probably can't tell what a fake or real watch looks like. Fakes these days are VERY accurate, so you should take all precaution to make sure it's authentic.

Thank you Retrograde the watch is presently send to be clean, I'm gonna have it next week and I'm gonna send you some picture. The watch come with the Cartier certificate and the series number match the watch. And the jeweler offer me to open the watch to see the Cartier signature, but I declined. The watch dated from 1997. I send you pics as soon I receive it. Thank you

Thanks for this info. I bought a vintage (circa 1980) 18k gold Cartier LM tank on Ebay and brought it to Tourneau to get some information about it. They thought it was authentic based on the weight and an inspection of the exterior. At that point, I felt confident enough to bring it to Cartier for servicing. I had the "complete service" and the cracked crystal replaced for about $600. I also ordered a custom strap for the non-adjustable 18K deployant buckle for about another $300.

The watch plus complete service / new crystal / new band cost me a total of $2700. When I picked the watch up, the salesman spontaneously told me "this watch, from this era, with this buckle is worth around $9,000", so I was pretty happy.

Although I don't have the original paperwork, because I had the watch serviced at Cartier, I do have documentation that it is genuine.

Hi, I just want to share my happy yesterday story with you dear lover of jewelry. I always want a cartier watch Tank, Ballon Bleu or Pasha was always my dream watch. I always check deal on ebay for pre-owned and three days ago I saw a very nice looking Cartier large Tank to sell at 10 miles from my homes for 2500$. So I contact the guys and ask him if I could see the watch in person, he tell me :Yes no problem and he gave me appointment for the next day. I love the watch but 2500$ was to much money for me to spend on my watch without special occasion. He tell me they do buisness in buying gold so I bring all my old gold that I don't wear anymore and doesn't have sentimental value. To do short story: I was amazed to finally have no money to give for having my dream watch, I exchanged some of my gold bangles too small for me and old stuff. I'm so happy with my new automatic Cartier watch. Today I went to the authentic dealer to have my head clear of any doubt. Very happy! I Hope I don't bother you with my little story and maybe it can give some ideas for some of you... And plus I feel much more lighter now. Some pictures:smile1::smile1::smile1:

Do you know what size in mm the face of the watch is? Thanks in advance. I'm loving this watch lately.
