I have a Cartier that is about 10 years old. Now, at that time, Cartier's were not made in China but I don't think that has changed?

If I were you, I would take the watch to a reputable Cartier dealer to authenicate.

Good Luck!

oh noes!

This is what the Cartier website says:
Bearing the prestigious “Swiss Made” label, all Cartier watches are painstakingly assembled at the Cartier
facilities in Switzerland: in La Chaux-de-Fonds or in Geneva for the watches bearing the Geneva Seal.

Good luck, I'm crossing my fingers for you that this works out.

OMG what a score! GREAT story... I loooove that watch too (in the smaller version) and how dreamy to find that perfect vintage one and trade in for it!!! So smart - enjoy it!!!

Hi, yes I came to authentic dealer and the sa said to me the watch seem fine to him. I contact the guys who sell the watch and he send me picture of another Cartier watch that have the same CHNA on the back. He tell me the older watch have this inscription on the back because Cartier used to marked the watch destined to North America MARKET. The watch was bought in 1997. What do you think have you ever saw this before?

Hi
I'm new to this thread, but I wanted to share my Cartier tank horror story.

I have a tank watch from the late 70's with a deployant strap. It no longer fits, so I went to Cartier back in January for a new band. It had to be custom ordered because my deployant buckle is non adjustable. They estimated the size of my wrist and placed my order. Four months later, the strap arrived.

It didn't fit (too large), so it had to be reordered. My DH saw how disappointed I was at the wait and bought me a regular (ardillon) buckle and band. My local Cartier store (Manhasset, LI) ordered it for me.

We had ordered (and paid for) an 18K gold buckle, so I was shocked when I picked it up last week. NO HALLMARK. NO CARTIER STAMP. NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO IDENTIFY IT AS EITHER CARTIER OR GOLD.

The salesman who ordered it was also perplexed and placed a reorder. He told me to wear the watch with the unmarked buckle until the new one came in.

Today I'm picking up the new buckle. It's a good thing too because the Cartier caiman band that I've been wearing for ONE WEEK is already splitting and cracking, and part of the edging has peeled off.

Has anyone else had problems like these? The personnel at my Cartier store have been extremely helpful, but really. Estimating custom sizes? An unmarked buckle? A cracking band? I certainly expected more from Cartier!

Thank you everyone, I'm now clear of any doubt they tell me CH it's the abbreviation or code for switzerland and NA north america. Thank you for all your great comments!

Great story. Several times I have taken extra diamonds(too long tennis bracelet, too little earrings, ect)and now I have several dbty necklaces. I also have a tincup made with extra pearls from one of my grandmother's necklaces that was an odd length on me. It pays to be resourcefull.
