I have the Circle of Life pendant, but I had my jeweler add a 2ct round shape diamond that dangles in the circle. Get lots of compliments. Also I have a pendant that is a 2.32 round shape diamond that hangs from a piece of the chain. It also has 6 .25ct round shape bezel set diamonds stationed in the chain. Will post pic when it comes back from the jeweler. I am in the process of getting all of my jewelry inspected and appraisals up to date for my insurance company.

alrighty then!:D

I went to Tiffany's and found that I need a diamond soliatire pendant :D

I tried on the cross and it was amazing, but for my 1st necklace, I am sold on the dangling diamond! LOL!
I tried on a 1.2 carat and really loved it. . . when Dh calls later and if he's in a good mood I'll start the process;)

Swanky, you made me laugh! You NEED a solitaire pendant!

Are you going to have it on a bale, or fixed on the chain? I've always liked the idea of having it fixed on a chain but then it gets off center on me and I go crazy!

Sooooo, are you going to match the cut of your current earrings or go for something different?? And how big are we talking? Details!

!!!

I tried on a 1.2 ctw and I really liked it, so that's a good size reference I think, a tiny bit either < or > will be fine :D
The one I tried on was a 4 prong setting and it slid around on a chain. . . I liked that.
The diamond studs will be the same shape, round, but 2 ctw.
Right now I wear about 1 ctw and they're fine, so I'll be a very happy Momma w/ either the pendant or the earrings!

The thing about the pendant though, and correct if if y'all disagree, is that it would need to be a brilliant/ideal cut and an excellent color. The earrings can be slightly less brilliant, like maybe an excellent cut, not necessarily "ideal" and could maybe be H or I in color as opposed to F, G or H{?}
I have a ton of long hair, so the earrings will be less ogled, but a pendant is front and center, should be very clean like a diamond ring, yes?

Agree, the diamond in your pendant should have the best of the 4 C's - and wow - I just had to comment on the new avy - what a beautiful daughter you have!!

Sounds perfect!!

And yes, I agree. The earrings can be of a lower quality in color and IMO clarity as well (I wouldn't want a SI1 ring but have seen them before and they look okay and in your ears you wouldn't notice the flaws) and still look great. People don't typically get up close and personal with your ears! LOL But definately on the necklace I think people will notice more.

Oh, that sounds gorgeous!!!

And now the debate about which is more important: clarity, color or cut!

I have found through much trial and error that diamonds that sparkle are really the only ones that I love. So I am all about the cut. You want a HEADLIGHT! Am I right or am I right!? And I think it's always important, even on earrings. So do go for ideal cut!! I'm not into "hearts & arrows" and other branded specialty cuts. Classic works for me. But if your hair is going to cover and you'd rather spend on some other aspect, like size, then by all means, go for it.

Swanky, you've inspired me! Just emailed my travelling SO and told him I NEED an every day diamond necklace! I can't stop thinking about the five stone graduated one that is here from your thread:

Maybe Mardo (my wonderful jeweler) can fix it so it will slide for me ...

Depending on the current state of his mood, he'll either go for it, or give me his usual "uhuh". BTW, our 15 year anniversary was Wednesday and he didn't have anything significant ready for the occasion. This would definitely do the trick! Did score an LV framboise coeur cles  and a mono keyholder, so he covered Valentine's fine.

Oooh, good luck! My DH is traveling too. . . I use it as leverage ;)

me: "Must be nice to eat at Morton's. . . I had dinner w/o any help w/ all 3 kids, then put them all to bed. . . ."
him: "Did you get a chance to go by the jewelers today?"

I like him traveling really. . . he does it a few days/week. We have twins and because he travels so often, we have a part-time nanny.
He is a very Type-A Alpha Male and I'm a very relaxed Mommy. . . it's good he travels a little!
