Not necessarily. They’re cross posted on other places too, so technically, even if it’s on one group, it was still in other groups as well. I just so happened to see it a few minutes after she posted it. I can feel that you’re implying something and I’m sorry if I offended you with how I worded my post.
Thanks for your well wishes.
Besides, I bet you are the admin as a volunteer? Perks of the job! Enjoy in good health, they are gorgeous!

I think what the poster meant was that generally there’s an unspoken rule when you work things like charity events and galas that have auctions etc, the volunteer committee isn’t allowed to cherry pick items. I know that’s been the rule on all of the ones I’ve worked on over the years. Don’t know if it applies to things like this however. But I don’t think the comment deserves the backlash it’s getting. Let’s play nice people, things are hard enough these days as it is.

I think technically, the OP didn't buy the bags from a charity event, but from a designer bag buy-and-sell group. The seller posted the bag so they can donate the money from the sale to charity (not related to the FB group). As admin of the Buy-and-Sell FB group (which I assume is also a volunteer position), of course, the OP will get first dibs on items. And the other Bal was offered directly to the OP.

Also, if she wanted the bags, she'd comment sold after posting them anyway since she'd be the first member of the group to see the post.

OP - please correct me if my understanding of what happened is wrong?

And yes, echoing @muchstuff, let's all be nice to each other.

Yup, regardless of the facts of the purchase it’s the venom that I see in some of the posts on TPF ( on various threads) that I find depressing.

Yes I am! It’s a very hard task having to manage 15k people and making sure no scammers and fakes get through. It’s a bit of a hard task because not everyone appreciates how strict I am usually. They just wanted to get their bags posted. Sometimes, they totally ignore our rules, but when something wrong happens, I’m always there to help. <3

Yes, that is correct! It was on a Facebook Group that I was asked to moderate. While people do post in our group, it still goes to other groups (the term PIOG is used when it is Posted In Other Groups) but even if it’s not, people from the FB marketplace get to see it too. I just happened to be on Facebook at the right time.
Also, when I marked the item sold, I did also approve it. It’s inevitable as an admin that I will get first dibs on items, since this is by approval basis.
But, like I said, just because I approved it on our group doesn’t mean other people in other groups didn’t see it too.

Before I took on the position as admin in 2019, the previous admin told me that it is a perk that I get first dibs, so who am I not to exercise that right?

Can I apply to be your friend, too? LOL

In her case, you wouldn't want to, she went through terrible chemo, husband walked out on her, she was so down that I thought "I really do not wear the satin midnight blue and she always lusted after it...." She needed a perk me up, and I doubt a bag makes up for that

Oh gosh. I’m so sorry to hear. I hope she’s doing well. And yes, I do understand what you’re saying. In the end, these are all material things and may not have the power to make us happy especially when we’re dealing with something so serious.
