I just got the letter

here's an idea for Coach, instead of banning people from returning w/o receipt, why not just say "receipt required" for returns/exchanges.

It makes NO SENSE to let people do it, and then say - well we let you do it, but we are punishing you now for OUR choice to let you do it in the 1st place.... Common sense, Coach?

I couldn't have said it better! :nono:

wow! I'm kind of worried about getting the letter! I returned my black hailey because of a sticky zipper, and it was without the receipt. I exchanged her for the black audrey (an upgrade) that was stolen before I even left the mall. I have also ordered and cancelled an embossed maggie order before it went through at jax (does this show up as a return?), returned with receipt a large white brooke and purchased the 2 kristin totes, the black peyton, the sunnies and the wristlet, and then this week I returned the white kristin tote with the receipt and ordered the cream julia and the sandals. Oh and last week I brought back my HG without a receipt, just the tag because it turned yellow and ordered the embroidered maggie with store credit and a little extra $. OH MY, when I write it all down it looks soooo bad. I am worried that I will get the letter. I also returned the white alex with a receipt. The thing is when I do return something I always purchase way more..... And it's not my fault that the camel audrey turned yellow and my hailey zipper stuck really badly. I would die if I got this letter.
I am also worried because I have never seen the julia that I've ordered. What if I don't like it? Will I be penalized if I exchange it for something else? This letter thing is rediculous!

If the Carleys shouldn't count then I have no idea where they are getting their numbers from? There would only be two then - they are accusing me of eight, which is still more than the five that I counted (including the Carleys, two not including the Carleys)). Anyway, just be careful. I don't even know if I want to call them - it's going to be a she said/he said ordeal, I have a feeling.

^^I'm sorry this happened to you. I would definitely call and sort everything out in that case, Maxsmon. A returns ban limited to returns with receipt only is really not that bad IMO (or would not be for me), but I would not want to be accused of returns like that I didn't make in the first place. I would want to clear that up! If I could not return at all, or buy at all, after getting the letter, then I would feel worse about that. I really wish they would either require a receipt or just limit the number of returns without receipt in a year...rather than issuing a letter like this.

I don't think damages should count if they're taken in as damages

those you'd expect to not have a receipt as who keeps the receipts once you've used it? you know, normally, some people might but it's expected they don't. esp the carlys that has been over for more then two years.

murano, don't worry about it! I really don't think you'll get the letter. You almost always return with receipt!

I've had a ton of returns in the last 2 months. I had issues making up my mind, and also the SA made a mistake once and double charged me for every single item! So when the return went in, the reason was "changed mind", rather than "SA mistake" :p

Every return I have made (both with and without receipt) has been entered in the sales computer as changed mind. Some were in fact that had changed my mind (those were with receipts) but 4 bags were retuned due to defects and those were returned without receipts. I only keep receipts until I use the bag, but maybe now I am going to have to start keeping them for longer. I currently have 2 bags that both have issues (groovy that the patent is peeling off the handle and maggie with some busted stiches) and no receipts. Hopefully this doesn't cause problems for me.

I returned a walnut maggie that came from jax with two deep scratches on it and the sa put as reason for return was that I didn't like that style. I didn't realize that she put that on the receipt until I got home. so that makes me look bad when it was really not my fault for the return.

I agree!

I've bought/returned/exchanged/kept a lot of bags and coach items this year. Every time I go to the outlet I get the same song and dance from the SA..."Just take them all home and which ever you don't like you can bring back." Why are they letting the SA's push the product and return policy if they punish you for doing what was suggested?
Makes NO sense to me! When I see this one particular Asian man come into the store every so often and stock up on 30 bags you can't tell me that he is allowed to do that buy you can't return 5 bags? That is just lazy policy enforcement or sheer ignorance!

for all those who say the sales person is saying 'just buy it and return it later if you change your mind' it is correct. you can as long as you have a receipt--and there would be no trouble, unless your buying pattern mimics that of a reseller in the outlets, but for boutique, as the OP's situation, receipts are golden

if you don't have a receipt it gets a bit tricky

if you don't like the sales person saying stuff like that, its a good idea to let them know, or let corporate know. i rarely use that line, unless, the customer is really debating between the two and i can't order/is the last one.

otherwise, i've even found myself berating associates in the past for saying this in my mind. i don't say anything to them cos its their sales tactic..
