That's a happy ending! I guess most jewelers are not used to customers like you and ame at all.
The 4-prong setting is really elegant.

You said it is a long story - did you post it somewhere else - why and how the ring had to be cut off?
Your hands look so slim, couldn't be due to weight-gain, no?

NO, I had it cut off two years ago before I was active on tpf. It is a long story, but basically I was traveling alone with my kids and my cat at night when my 4 year old at the time had to go potty. She had to hold it for 45 minutes till I could find a place. It's midnight now. She was nearly in tears. I pulled over to a sorta busy highway truck stop gas station to take her in. I left my car running but took the keys with me and locked the truck with my purse and cat inside(I can do that thanks to remote start). When my second daughter was going potty my keys fell in the toilet and the auto flush flushed them away!!

So here I am with two small children in the middle of NOWHERE. I went to the counter than they were totally unwilling to help me. I told them to call the police and then they became more cooperative and let me borrow a cell phone to call me husband who was 2 hours away. He was an hour from home in the opposite direction but was going to come with the spare set of keys. He also called a hotel 1 mile away (the closest he could find) and booked me a room. But my girls were tired and scared and I really didn't want to walk 1 mile in the dark at 2 am along the highway outer road with 2 small kids. Thats like a dateline waiting to happen. So I decided to dig for my keys just in case.

I took my ring off and put it on my right hand and tried to fish out the keys. Mind you someone else had used the toilet since then and now it was clogged. It was gross but I was desperate. I didn't get them. So we did end up walking a mile in the dark to the hotel. It was horrible. An hour later I get a call from the gas station (it's 4 am now) and some nice couple was eating breakfast at the attached Denny's and the ladies told him what happened. He was a plumber and actually took apart the toilet and got out my keys! The kindness of some people is astounding!

So this couple drove the keys to me at the hotel and offered to give my girls and me a ride back to my truck. Dateline story number 2. I declined saying my girls were already asleep and my husband must be close.

My husband arrived, got my keys, walked to my truck and brought it to the hotel and brought my poor cat in. The next morning, my ring still on my right hand, was stuck. My finger throbbed and was cold and turning colors. When we got back home my husband cut it off for me (I know that sounds strange and scary to some people, but my husband is power tool man extraordinare.

And thats my story. No weight gain here...lol. I've weighed the same amount since I was 13 (22 years now). Even when I was pregnant I had to wear a small band to keep my rings on because I shrunk to a 2.5 ring finger. I know. I'm odd.:p

Wow! This ring has definitely been a nightmare. I'm just glad you and your girls are safe! And I gotta hand it up to your husband! Knight in shining armor! He sounds like a wonderful man to do that so late into the night to make sure you were okay. And the plumber too... You don't hear too many stories of people willing to help like that anymore. Sad to see but understandable since so many people use cries for help as bait.

YAYYYYY!!!! I'm so happy for you!! Your ring looks amazing now and I'm so glad that you have your ring as it's supposed to be. The bands look well made and stunning, the prongs give your gorgeous, sparkling round that cushiony look and overall it looks so polished and elegant. Congrats!!! And size 2.5. . .I still can't wrap my head around that! You were (still are) tiny tiny!!

(BTW, I was tense the entire time I was reading about your ordeal!! I've had to retrieve a loose ring from a used toilet before too. . .)

It's one of the things I love about him most. I am a fiercely independent and strong person. It tacks a super special guy to make me feel safer than I can make myself feel. And I love that he is SO big and manly, but is so kind and supportive and caring too.

Thanks Kohl! That means a lot coming from you!
And it's amazing what you'll do when your desperate isn't it? I NEVER would have thought I could do that, I bet you didn't either...till you HAD to;)

you really earned this ring! brave mother!! best wife!

Aww...thanks! I am brave...sometimes to a detriment. It's amazing I made it to 35 because in my younger pre kid years I did some REALLY crazy brave things that I still can't believe I survived. But I love that even though I'm pretty boring suburban mom now..I've always got my stories of the past :smile1:

To everyone else...Thank you for your kind comments! I love tpf and the way we support each other  You've all got me on cloud nine!!:cloud9:

Goodness what a story!
Your ring is beautiful, I'm glad it turned up beautifully! I remember the old pics from ame's threads, and I was very sad about the poor workmanship...

Yay enjoy the beauty!

SK, your new ring is beautiful!!! I can only imagine how much it sparkles in reality!!

Your story was fascinating. I love the "dateline" comparisons......I'd feel the same way. Thanks for sharing!!

Enjoy it......and the setting on the solitaire does make it look like a cushion!
