I've been sitting on this idea for a couple of years (sentimental reasons) and finally committed to working with an awesome jewelry designer/engineer who brought my idea/drawing/vision to fruition. Both of my parents have passed away, and had been divorced since I was about 3. But my mom always kept her ring from my dad, we had some tough times through the years but when she passed unexpectedly her current husband did make sure that I at least got the ring..... It was set traditionally north south with tapered baguettes on the side, very pretty but both not my style (and too engagement ring looking when I already have one from my husband) and not possible to size down as her ring finger was more than twice the size of mine (the ring was too big for my thumb). My left hand ring finger is a 3, right hand 3.5 so I decided to have the ring made for my right hand.
My goal in all of this was to have a ring that was my parents but with me in it too. I was so torn about this for a while, and it was very emotional picking it up yesterday, but I'm SO happy to be able to wear this stone and know that this was the ring that brought them together (albeit for a short time) that I can wear and look at and appreciate, just in a different configuration.
