I bought this in memory of Mom

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. The necklace is beautiful, and I think you have chosen a wonderful way to honor her. I too believe that hummingbird was sent especially for you.

And I agree, I hope you told your story to the artist who created your necklace. I know they would enjoy hearing it and knowing that their work represents something so special for you.

I also wanted to add that I think it was very thoughtful of your DH's uncle to send you the check with those instructions, in lieu of flowers.

Thank you for all of your kind comments.

Several of you asked if I told the artist my story. I did, and she loved it. She still has her Mom, but she's 99, and has dementia.

Today is the 1-month anniversary of my Mom's death.

The seller sent the necklace out today, so I should have it pretty soon. I can't wait to wear it. It's her first in a line of local bird portrait jewelry. If she makes any other bird species necklaces, I think I'll buy those, as well.

I probably will also add a sterling hummingbird charm to my charm bracelet.

Joya still comes to the feeder many times each day! I find a sense of comfort when I see her. I hope she finds a mate soon, and has babies, and they have babies, and so on. I'd love to have a hummingbird dynasty here. Yet another wonderful way to honor my Mom!

God bless you and may your Mother rest in peace. I lost my Mother a few years ago after a horrible illness and like you I also had what I thought was a sign that she was no longer in pain and happy in heaven.

Remember she is always with you in your heart.

Joya has a friend, I just found out! I'm pretty sure it's a female. I saw them together by the feeder, and this one hovered in front of the window, staring at me (maybe attracted to my red hair? Hummingbirds have been known to investigate red lipstick, hair, etc. on humans.) Meet Emerald! Their plumage really is emerald-like in color, and sparkle.

And JTV had an emerald hummingbird pin/pendant on right after that! I'm seriously running out of gem names for these animals of mine--I have a cat named Gemma, too!

Talk about coincidence today. In the mail was a birthday gift card pack for local merchants, which I've never seen before (my brithday is later this month). It said, "Happy Birthday, Ratnapur" on the outside. Ok, no big deal--it's a mass mailing. But the first store name that leapt out at me was: JOYA. Never heard of the place until today. Inside were many very good discount cards for fancy restaurants in the area. Think Mom's trying "take me out" for a birthday dinner? LOL

What a very sweet story!

We have tons of hummingbirds & was going to ask if you'd like me to send you an abandoned nest. (The are very tiny & shallow, the chicks end up being crowded quickly.) Sounds like you'll be having your own soon!
