I Bought a New Bag But Not the One I Had on Hold - Reveal!

I wouldn't worry too much about wear on the feet. I do agree that it is an expensive bag and should be flawless when you get it but it might not be worth your time or trouble to get it replaced. If you are near a store then maybe it would be worth it. I know Coach will take the bag and replace hardware for free for 1 year. I had this happen with a Dinky and I just brought it out again and have been wearing it a couple weeks and noticed the same hardware that was just replaced has chipped again. I am rather annoyed as I already have another bag (my metallic pink mailbox) out being repaired for hardware chipping. That one had issues almost right away, literally 1 week after I started carrying it the hardware was chipping.
Eeeekkk oh no. I just got the black prairie print mailbox 35. I was already worried about the placement of the long strap so close to the kisslocks. I haven't used it yet, I bet same thing will happen:(

It sounds like we are at the same decision point. I love the tobacco, black copper, double swagger bag but I have already seen evidence of finish damage on the feet so that may bode ill for future damage in more visible areas. Should I say the heck with it and keep it and just deal with the damage if it happens?

Part of my dilemma is the price of this bag, even at 50% off I spent over $400 with tax and that's a lot of money IMO, so I want the bag to last a long time. If I had gotten it really cheap at the outlet I would probably say "oh well, I'll just enjoy it and see what happens!" but I am not as comfortable doing that in a higher price range.

I once found a Copper Zoe 12669 bag at the Coach outlet for only $116 (retail $500) and I had read a lot of reports about rubbing damage to the metallic leather finish. I bought it anyway and I loved that bag and carried it a lot - and eventually it showed signs of rubbing damage - but I certainly got a lot of value out of the bag. I am not sure about the wisdom of keeping a bag with known damage issues that used $400 of my limited purse budget.

I also know that another bag that I love will come around soon if I just wait for it, maybe another double swagger. So I am still undecided. When I look at the bag I want to keep it, when I look at the feet, I am not sure that I will.

Sorry that I keep waffling on about this!

If you're going to think about it every time you carry it, I'd return it. I'm that way, I'd obsess over it & be dissatisfied every time I use it, so it would ruin the experience of having the bag. But if you can get past it, keep it, it's a beautiful bag.

This is a gorgeous bag, and I think that you are worrying waay too much about what may or may not happen to it in the future. Scratched feet could happen on any bag. You still got this beauty at a great price, so I think you should just relax and enjoy it! Life's too short. :P

You could return it and if it ever shows up at the outlet for a great price then you can buy it and not worry as much.

I think you are pretty safe with the double swagger. Most of my 1941 bags have black copper and I don't have any chipping or problems with my hardware except for the feet. The bags sent from Coach have all had scratched up feet, I swear they drag them all over a cement floor. Bags from Bloomingdale's, NM, etc that came factory wrapped had perfect feet. I try to be careful with my bags but with 3 kids ages 7 and under my bags can get abused at times lol. My 4 year old did ruin the feet of one of my rogues when he took my bag and pushed it around the grocery store floor like a racecar. The feet aren't horrible, maybe coach shipping department is doing the same thing and racing bags!!!

I am much more worried about this mailbox bag than any other I have bought though. I don't know if you have seen them in person before but the clips for the shoulder strap are right up against the kisslocks. They are so close together that it's hard to even clip on.

Looks like the mailbox you ordered has the same issue as mine, the dogleashes are RIGHT next to the kisslock hardware. Just something to watch for.

Did you clip your long strap with the flower pointed outwards like in my pic? Not sure which way will cause less friction.
I did not because my SA was adamant that I not do that because she said the dogleash clip could accidentally open as it rubs against the kisslock hardware. I followed her advice but maybe I should try that when I get it back. I haven't gotten any information from Coach yet regarding it so I don't know when it will be sent back to me.

I never even thought that it could open it up! Only reason I did it that way was because it left more room between the two. Now I can't decide which way might be better lol

I went to my store today and found out that they are not repairing the bag. They don't have hardware to replace it so were just going to keep the bag! OMG! My SA said she can have it shipped back. She was supposed to email me this afternoon but I have not heard from her. I will be very upset if they don't send my bag back.

Oh that is just awful! I hope you get it back!!

Now let me tell you about my concern, this bag was brand new, it was totally wrapped and sealed and heavily protected by plastic and foam.

All I've done so far is unwrap it and set it on my kitchen table, which is a smooth laminate surface. I haven't loaded it up or carried it anywhere. Last night when my husband came home I showed him my new bag - because he gave me the gift cards I used to buy it!

He really likes it, but while I was showing the bag to him, I noticed that all 4 of the feet have scratches on the bottom with the shiny metal showing through. I have some bags with black hardware and I haven't had any problems but I know that others have had problems with black hardware chipping or scratching.

Honestly, I am not too worried about the feet, because feet get scratched, but I am worried about the rest of the hardware - especially where the strap attaches to the bag with the dogleash clips - because I am planning to carry it by the long strap.

I know if I took it back to coach they would replace it, but maybe I should return it and look for something else? If I carry it for a few months and then the scratches start showing elsewhere, what will coach do? I don't think that they give full refunds any more.

Here are pics of the feet, I'd really appreciate some advice, thanks!

This would make me nuts, but they ARE feet. But then again, if they're feet, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND this!!! I don't put my bags on floors or anything. But it begs the question, if it's still wrapped, what on earth had it been through to already warrant scratches?!

That's ridiculous. How disappointing.

Well- exactly!!! So, if you know you're going to be upset about further scratches on something which is supposed to protect the bag, I'd return it ASAP. This would kill me. Unless, of course, you got such a great deal, you can consider it 'as is', and a defect...

Wow, how disappointing that it's such bad design!!! I would've run out to get the pink mailbox if it were even available!!!

It's so weird that they'd just keep it!!! Really?!!! I was going to ask anyway, do they replace the feet, or the bag altogether?
