Actually their prices are not always cheaper, a lot of times in clothing the prices are higher. I was worried their Chloe bags would be way higher but actually they are the same as NM or anywhere else. I asked them once about the higher prices and it was simply because they are overseas.

But do you care? I don't care if fewer people want the Paddingtons. I'm not buying because everyone else is. I want one so who cares!?

No I do not care who wants them. I liked them a long time ago before I saw that everyone had them. I just know how long the waiting list are and I was just simply maiking conversation, thats all.

Sorry! No offense intended. My comment was more a general thing we've kicked around before -- how much does the popularity/publicity make you want a bag? Personally, I find it interesting when my interest runs completely counter to the population in general. Then again, when my interest fades as does the general populace's, I wonder about my own motives.

I don't think it has anything to do with a dying trend. Because they're pre-order items and new in the color palette, there's probably more creme/white paddingtons in stock, than say.. whiskey.

And white and metallic-like colors are more... luxurious. Or for more adventurous people. I know there's a huge wait list *everywhere* for the more basic colors.

If you purchase from overseas (Europe/UK), etc. you will get charged the VAT (value-added tax) which averages around 18% (pretty hefty on expensive stuff). The biggest problem is getting the stuff into the states. After 9/11, customs is much stricter on imports, and typically a good-sized bag will come in a good-sized box (get the picture???!). If the store (or individual) is remiss in filling out the paperwork (crossing the t's and dotting the i's), you will wait FOREVER for customs to release the parcel. Or worse - they will open up the parcel and then make sure you are assessed the correct customs.

I travel a lot overseas (for work), and I stupidly had my first Balenciaga bag sent from Browns (London). I ended up waiting a month for customs to clear the sucker ... then got socked with the customs/duties and the VAT. I was able to get the VAT back, but that took another 6 months. Overall ... I wouldn't do this again! :sad2:
