Ya know another way to maybe help with a ban is to accessorize the bags you already have, thus making an old bag new and still satisfying that urge to shop but without hurting your wallet. I was browsing through the forums yesterday looking at bag charms and wow, they can really change the look or add some personality! In fact I don't remember what thread I was reading this morning but one gal had a teddy bear on her LV Speedy (if you're reading this, it was super cute!) which kept it classy but gave it a fun look too. I have a couple LV charms I usually only use on my Mon-Monogram but I'm sure I could throw one on one of my denim bags and really give it a pop of color. eBay also has a huge selection and they're super cheap! Just a thought!

I NEVER carry a credit card balance but I have one now. My saving grace with my purchases is that I've kept my vow not to pay over $200 for a single bag. I've wavered a few times but I stayed strong and have found some amazing deals, I've paid anywhere from $45 - $179.

I actually can't wait till the day I can say this... I'm even considering calling a couple of my cards and seeing if they can revoke spending privileges till the balances are down or paid off. Long story short I got myself into a world of trouble when my ex-fiancé called off our wedding and left, used shopping to cope. Now I'm working on paying it down but my commute to work eats up so much money for gas it's hard to send them more than the minimum. Ugh. Glad this forum is here though. I can browse but it's not like I can click the photo and buy!

I have been lusting over a LV Delightful for months. I just purchased one Friday. I have placed myself on a handbag ban until September and a No Buy until I reach my fitness goals. I weight 165, goal weight is 140. I've given myself 6 months to get there. Is that TMI?.....lol

I actually started jan. 1. As well! I AM the crazy bag lady!! My collection (that the majority has been collected within the last 3 years....) consists of 24 LV's, almost 60 gucci's (including my pride and joy the large Pelham bark brown ostrich hobo) 91 coach purses (over half still have tags) 13 Prada, 10 Jimmy Choo, 3 channel, 2 Burberry, 1 Fendi (not a Fendi fan really) and few more. My shoe collection is just as over the top! I realized how bad my habit had gotten and vowed to enjoy my current purses before purchasing anymore! I would say that 2 years is a great time line and then I plan to limit myself to 1 or 2 amazing "must have" bags a year!!

Great idea!!

I really wanted an AH tote I saw on theoutnet last night but I held my ground. I want bags on my wish list, not just those I think are a good deal. Stay strong!

I agree! After talking with some friends I decided that if I find a color on my wish list in a style I know I love AND its a good deal I can buy it. If its the same color as a bag I already have I have to wait till I meet this and next years financial goals, no matter how much of a steal it is. (i.e. no black satchels for me bc I have a black hobo)

It's not as bad as it sounds. I only have burnt orange and apple green on my wish list. ;)

The suggestion for using accessories to change up current bags is also a good one, though I have only two bags that would look good w a fob IMO and I'm not a scarf girl so for me its not worth it. There are some pretty ones though :smile1:

I wish I had put myself on a ban much earlier...I just finished posting some bags for sale on eBay because I need the cash to pay a credit card bill, stress that I don't need. I also wish I had not purchased trendy bags that are harder to sell and yield less. I had my eye on the PS1 wallet on chain but for $785 I'll pass, I'll just remind myself how I feel now. I had not known about the money subforum but will head over...thanks everyone, wish me luck!

I did it! I "completed" my collection by buying a persimmon Sophia and a jade Juliette. (That brings my bag total to 10 leather bags and 2 Poppy swingpacks) It feels so good to be done! :yahoo: (I'm a bit OCD so not having my final two colors would have eaten away at me)

I have now deleted all my saved eBay searches, and last night when I thought about browsing "just for fun" I told myself no and did something else instead.

No more bags! We can do it!

I'm going on a ban too. My DH just got me a black Michael Kors tote and as I have so many bags I decided I will not buy any more bags for at least next 6 months and simpley because I don't need any. Instead I will try to sell the bags I don't use anymore and maybe by the end of the year I will get something special :) I really hope I won't buy anything for the next months!

My purse collection has gotten way out of hand. I have placed myself on a ban after buying the same style bag for the third time bur in different colors. The only thing I can say to make myself feel better is at least I got deals on them. What is it about our addiction to handbags or bags in general? It makes me happy for a al little while then the guilt sets in. Here's wishing us strength.

Argh I need some support here. I received a email about a Katie Spade sale & I know I shouldn't have looked but I did. So now I'm tempted because I like one of the bags that's on sale. I have 2 bags I have not used yet. I so need to stop.
