I am curious. What is the TOP 5 brand of watches for you?

I've never been a big watch person, I have an Hermes Kelly lock watch which I wear on occasion. But my parents wanted to buy me an everyday watch for my graduation, I ended up getting a Citizen Eco-Drive. I know its not particularly high end but I like that its not chunky and never having to change a battery is a plus :graucho:.

So I guess I only have a top 2:

Hermes

Citizen

I also love any watch with exposed gears, but all the ones I've seen are far too big for my little wrist.

Rolex
Omega
Chanel
Chopard
Cartier

and #6 Bedat - this brand is slightly more affordable in stainless steel watches than some of the others, and it carries a 5 year warranty too.

Affordable luxury:
Grand Seiko (Spring Drive) *too underappreciated imo! the accuracy and movement for me is superb
Rolex

I found this on the internet somewhere and agree with it.
This is a great pyramid.

Answering "which are the top 5 watch brands" really depends on why you're buying a watch and what you want from it. If you want general brand recognition (nothing wrong with that), than Rolex and Cartier are the way to go. If you're really interested in movement and mechanics, than you want to stick with basically Patek or the french-sounding Swiss houses because they make their own movements, whereas companies like Cartier and Rolex rely on other people for their movements.

Do you want a mechanical/automatic watch (that doesn't require changing a battery) or a quartz/battery operated watch? Michele W watches are great quartz/battery operated watches that give the look of a higher end watch at a fraction of the cost.

I'm just starting to get into watches and had my heart set on a Cartier Ballon Bleu but after talking to my jeweler, I'm thinking of going either Bedat or IWC. I LOVE the IWC Portofino moonphase.

My favorites:
1. Patek (which I can't afford...yet)
2. Jaeger LeCoultre (which I can't afford either)
3. IWC
4. Bedat
5. Cartier (compared to some of the others, their quality isn't quite on par, but they hold their value extremely well).

1) I have 3 Chopard watches, dressy, sporty and smart casual.
2) I have a Rolex perpetual as my heavy duty watch.
3) I own a Hermes Kelly watch too which is the least favourite because it is too girly and dainty to wear. So it is in the box most of the time.

The next watch on my to buy list is a VCA Vintage Alharma in black dial & satin strap. And my ultimate dream watch is VCA Poetic Complications Collection, Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux Watch which I have fall in love years ago when it first launch but will never afford given its 6digits price tag in Euro!
