Pretty much but when I asked where it was manufactured in the store, they beat around the bush the same way they did when I inquired where their sheepskin lined boots were produced. (Eventually got an answer from corporate: India).

Yeah, i think they do fairly well at producing in the Toronto factory but today it's harder to keep it all there... i do wonder how many more decades before the bags no longer are.

After my dabbles into designers i realized most don't manufacture in their original countries anymore anyways.:smile1:

Very nice! tribe leather is fantastic! i own a bag in it. Right now i am in one their pebbled leather bags so chewy/thick.

Glad your happy with it. May not be "designer" but frankly the brand is is quite capable of competing with them regardless.

Thanks! The pouches I got are in the Prince pebbled leather and they are so soft. Much softer than I had expected.

Meh RE: designer bags. Yeah, there are some extremely cool and beautiful designs out there and undoubtedly also some beautiful leather. Wonderful if you can afford it and it fits your lifestyle and/or just makes you really happy. But I don't "need" premier designer bags to bring me joy. Heck, I had a small canvas bag I got from Old Navy for eight bucks that I wore for a whole year and thought it was just button cute and exactly what I needed at that time. That wouldn't satisfy me now, but it did then!

These days I am just into leather. I love, love, love leather. And my lifestyle and needs range from trendy to much more casual. The Roots Cargo Messenger will send just the right message about me at work as I work in construction (on the "white collar" side) with a bunch of men. I can't show up to meetings looking like Legally Blonde. I would be laughed out of the room. The Roots bag is so luxurious, but rustic and relaxed. It's perfection for my needs.

Cute. The tribe leather is pretty neat stuff.

Thank you. I couldn't tell from the pictures how matte of a finish/unfinished look it would have. I was hoping for something more rugged and not glossy. This is just perfect. It's "finished" but not too much.

Haha, I understand what you mean. I think the Roots bag is one that men can appreciate too for its quality and ruggedness. They have a pretty nice range of leathers for different needs.

Right?? My husband was a little annoyed with me for buying another bag, but had to admit that this one is a keeper. I strongly suspect that his next work bag will be a Roots bag, too. He was trolling the website after I told him about it. LOL.

I have to do everything from visiting construction sites, to sales calls at wholesale distribution (still a pretty "rough" environment) to national sales meetings and fancy conventions, all with laptop in tow. I had a canvas and leather Tumi that is gorgeous, but was beginning to feel like its message is "Look at me being a high end backpack that was turned into a satchel!" The Roots bag says, "Look at me being a gorgeous piece of leather turned into a lovely yet utilitarian sack!" Much better.

I have a lot done in pebbled, my grace satchel is actually done in their super prince/Princeton pebbled which basically means it's thicker, highly durable etc.

This bag sounds perfect for the industry you work in, LOL @ the legally blonde.
