If it helps, my chanel SA brought in a bell shaped, short navy sequined jacket with a sailor collar, size 38 for me. The store only had a 42 which I tried on and liked. She held for several weeks bc I was traveling, ( without any obligation to purchase).
When I got back, I assumed I’d buy it, but my standard query to her is whether the item in question is her top pick for me this season (at least at this moment). She took another look around, and together, after she pulled a variety of other things that I tried, we decided on an entirely different jacket. (I ended up buying two other items which brought my total higher than the one jacket; but if nothing had worked, that would have been okay too).
So long as you are acting in good faith, changing your mind is normal, and far preferable to regret after purchase. No harm, no foul. ETA: if I had seen a bag that I preferred to RTW, that would be fine also, but that’s an entirely different category, so hard to compare. HTH
ETA: I don’t normally ask for something to be brought in unless I’m pretty serious about purchasing. If I just want to compare and I am not sure, I also specify this up front. No SA has ever had an issue with this. It’s their job
