How to organize fob, purses, wallets, etc. for storage?

I use these canvas covered boxes to organize wallets, wristlets, and clutches from the Container Store: http://www.containerstore.com/shop?productId=10000883&N=&Ntt=linen+box

They have a label holder on the front that I use to identify color. I have my stuff organized into: black, neutrals, reds/oranges, blues/green/purple. It keeps everything dust free which I love and the boxes look pretty in my closet. They hold a surprisingly large amount.

I got something similar to that at Ikea a few years ago. I had read on TPF time and time again not to store leather in plastic, so I really wanted to find something in canvas or acid free cardboard.

Another idea for small items like wallets, wristlets, coin purses are those cardboard boxes that hold photographs. I just saw them on sale yesterday at Michael's for 5/$10. I am not seeing the exact ones online, but something like this - http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Photo-Storage-Photos-Album-Sage/dp/B003WSV7HM/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_2

Yes, I've heard that too. Plastic definitely isn't good for storage of leather. Photo supply places like Exposures also sell acid free storage boxes of different sizes. Their stuff tends to be a bit pricey but they run 25% off specials a couple times a year.

ETA: Those are cute boxes that you linked at amazon. Exposures also has similar stuff in different colors as well.

This is a really interesting thread so I'm anxious to see what kind of clever suggestions you get!

We are moving soon so I have really been going through and purging to get my collection down to a more manageable amount and once we do move (everything is currently stuffed and dust bagged and in plastic bins) I have a armoire that I plan to use as a purse/accessory keeper. It has 6 drawers of varying depth (the top one is even lined with a nice velvet) so I figure that will be perfect for wallets, fobs, scarves and smaller bags and then I can store bags stuffed and in their bags in the cupboard part.

I am trying to organize purses and fobs, wallets scarves for storage. I have too much that a box or shelf here or there won't cut it.

I was thinking of those Sterlite type containers for the fobs at least. But I would need an army of the small three type, I need something on a larger scale. I don’t want to have them on shadowbox display as some people do. That won’t work for me.

Same question for wallets, bags scarves, etc. I have, volume wise, more bags than anything. If you box them you can only get three or four in a box.

Thx for ideas.

Thank you for starting this thread. Desperate need to store handbags etc in a easy accessible way.

I've tried to find a similar thread here on tPFs and can't wait to hear folks suggestions and ideas.

There are many threads about this in the Coach forum, the Handbags and Purses forum, and Care and Maintenance forum.

Although there may be a lot of threads, I haven't seen many that deal with more than a half a dozen items or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, don't involve building shelving or a display case of some sort. i was looking for something else, more storage-like, but accessible.

After it was just me and dd in the house, I took the smallest bedroom and made it a purse closet. I went with pretty cheap ($39.97) but very functional, sturdy, and easy to put together shelving units around the perimeter to store bags. Then I have an old dresser in the middle to store my wallets, wristlets, scarves, etc. For fobs I have the hanging jewelry organizer that others have mentioned and it's so nice to be able to see all the fobs at once.

Here's a pic of the shelving unit, I can fit 5 purses (or more if they are small/medium sized) per shelf and with purses on the top shelf it pretty much goes all the way to the ceiling maximizing the space completely. Only thing is that the shelves aren't smooth so to prevent any indents on the bottom of purses, I laid down some clearanced priced thick towels first to cover the grooves.
The shelving unit measures 36W x 18D x 75H.

I know this is an older thread, but I didn't want to start a new thread since this one is still relevant. We all need help with storage ideas occasionally since our collections are ever-evolving entities, right? ;)
Here is my new storage tower. I bought it at Lowe's. You can get multiple drawers, or no drawers at all. I wanted a drawer for my wristlets and wallets. I still need at least one more tower, and I'm still trying to figure out how to store SLGs without touching. ( for which I saw a great idea in this very thread! )

It looks beautiful! I like that it looks like a nice piece of furniture. I have a cherry wood double bookcase that I use for my bags. I don't like how the floppy ones flop on the shelves so I have some hanging on a dowel wall coat rack. I want to eventually get one or two more coat racks.
