I've been reading Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster by Dana Thomas.Thank you guys! I actually have enough cash, I even have cash for a Birkin -- I'm proud of this. I really like the bag, but I never spend that much money on simply a bag. Thus this is a big decision to me.
And another concern is that people always tell themselves: enough if I could buy this bag. However I think people will never reach this "enough" status. If I buy my dreaming alma bb, I may have another goal such as Miss Dior few months later. This is unacceptable... I'm not rich enough to buy a luxury bag each term.
I highly recommend. It really puts a lot of things in perspective WRT the price of "luxury" and what it's worth, particularly as it relates to the way things are manufactured and provides a deeper understanding of the fashion house empires.
There is also an excellent quote in the book: "He is poor who does not feel content." - Japanese proverb. Seems very apropos, no?
